Not that one specifically but we have a bigger baileigh and it’s pretty awesome. Best hand brake I’ve used.

Re: Helium bottle to argon?

I don’t have an AC tig welder yet and won’t for awhile sadly. I just bought a multimatic 215 with a tig kit and would rather have the extra bottle. I’ll see about it. It might be too odd of a size and they may not exchange jt.

Helium bottle to argon?

My grandpa picked up a smaller bottle of helium. Not sure if it’s full or not didn’t check, but I was wondering if I can take that into my LWS and get it switched to pure argon or not?

Re: 7018 Basic Weld Test Vertical Constant Failure Root Pass

I assume 1/8 7018? Typically if doing a 3g plate test with 3/8” plate, I use a 1/4” gap as is standard for that test. 1/8” gap for and 1/8” rod really isn’t enough for me at least. Either widen your gap a little bit or use a 3/32 rod. For 3g 1/8” 7018 I run about 110 amps and almost always have good...

You can also use 98/2 especially if doing more frictional work as far as I know. That’s all we use at work for mig.

Quitting jobs

Currently I am working two part time jobs. One a production and one a small mom and pop shop. I began an “internship” at the production facility to gain experience and have a foot in a door. As time went on I came to realize the substantial problems in the facility of every shape size and quantity. ...

Flux core is pretty simple if you’ve run mig before. Me personally I’ve always liked Lincoln electric wire. It just seems to run the nicest for me.

If I’m doing a lot of welding that is flat horizontal or when I’m doing framework on the trailers I wear a 3M halfmask respirator. I weld stainless feel exclusovely. If I’m doing small amounts or am standing quite a ways back I’m not too worried but I’m trying to get in he habit of wearing it.

Where is the picture of what won the argument with the bucket? Was he gentleman enough to use the machine to bend things back for you after you warmed them up? That was my first thought. Did he let you use the backhoe to bend it back? I’ve done some pretty precise restraightening work with a D6 Cat...

Re: Pulse Spray Stainless

I did some SS spray transfer with metal core on some heavier stuff. I think it was made by Esab, but it could have been Hyundia or Sandvik. I used 100% Argon, but I know it said 98/2 or 100% argon on the box. I don't know if you could weld non-horizontal with it. I did end up doing some vertical do...

Re: Pulse Spray Stainless

Not saying you can't or shouldn't try that, simply that it might not be possible across the boards in a large manufacturing setting. One of the problems endemic to a large manufacturer is skill levels of the employees and how widely it can vary. You may be capable of this yourself, but others are n...

Re: Pulse Spray Stainless

I'm thinking you'll have a lot of trouble going to spray in anything other than flat position, and ESAB seems to back that thinking. http://www.esabna.com/euweb/mig_handbook/592mig1_7.htm Spray yes. I’m talking pulse spray which is an all posisiton mode of transfer. It is a rather cool process to m...

Pulse Spray Stainless

I work at a stainless steel tank/trailer manufacturer and am interested in trying to see if they would be interested in using pulse spray seeing how a lot of the machines already have pulse spray capabilities. I run downhill mig every day at work. Stainless steel trailer manufacturer. Welding in support rings is all downhill. If it’s vertical it’s downhill. Typically it is 10 or 11 Gauge stainless. Pipe welders run downhill with stick as well.

It is up to you as I see it. Try to see if you can try out each hood yourself. I tried a speedglass and the optrel panoramaxx and hated them both. I personally use a miller digital infinity and love it. See if your welding supply store will let you try them or something.
