Re: Getting tig rods Monday, any recommendations?
I use a lot of 3/32 and 1/8 and some 5/32 for carbon and anything from 1/16-1/8 for my SS. yeah, but i dont got that much amperage to play with, max 150 so i dont think i would even use that much, so 5/32 would not really work for me (personally) and i plan to practice alot on 14/16 gauge to practi...

Re: Getting tig rods Monday, any recommendations?
Noah The only thing I'll question is the 1/16" 4043, aluminum filler consumes very fast and unless you're welding very thin AL (</=1/16" sheet) then 3/32" is good, and 1/8" filler for the thicker material. If anything then go with 5lbs of the 1/16" filler and see how much y...

Getting tig rods Monday, any recommendations?
I am going to buy tig rods Monday along with 2%lath 1/16 and 3/32 tungsten for my welder, I will be welding both thin and thicker stuff on mild steel, stainless and aluminum, so these where the rods I was thinking of getting (1/16 and 3/32 rods, 10lbs of each) 70 s-2, 4043, and 308 (maybe like 5lbs ...

Re: welding table sugggestions? (looking at nomad table)
I have a nomad that I use regularly in the shop and on site. Its great for squaring up small frames and 1/2" pipe headers etc. I definitely would not tack or weld to it. Clamping only. Welding to it would warp the table and render it useless. No need to tack anyway, stronghand clamps and squar...

best way to get rid of zinc/galvanized coating? to tig weld
i have some wheels and some hooks (to tie a chain around to secure an argon bottle) that i need to weld on my welding cart, both of them have some galvanized coating and i will use a flap disk to get most of it off, but are there any more precautions i need to take in order to tig weld it? i know it...

welding table sugggestions? (looking at nomad table)
the title explains most of it I need to get a welding table (preferably somewhat portable table that doesn't weigh over 100lbs and can be fairly strong/ sturdy) I was thinking of getting a 4' build pro table with the circle slots til I saw the price tag, it will be a cold day in hell before I can ju...

Re: Tig torch accessory questions
I actually got a very useful gas lens kit from Eastwood, (sorry Jody) that has collets for 1/16, and 3/32 2 each long and short caps and #6 and #8 cups 2 each again. And for very little money. My needs are met for my #17 torch. No extra stuff to deal with. that sounds good, i got this cuz i figured...

Re: Tig torch accessory questions
Sorry to be a wet blanket. The trouble with those huge kits is a lot goes unused. I just think we might be able to help you get more of what you need and less of what you might not. No issues, appreciate your input but I am planning on keeping the kit to get used to a bunch of different cups, all I...

Re: Tig torch accessory questions
6 and 7) Do you have two heads for the torch? The Flexloc can be setup for WP17 size or WP9 size consumables. Same flex handle - just change the head. The smaller bits you have look to be WP9 size. The items in the second down bin on the left appear to be WP17 size stubby gas lenses. These use the ...

Re: Help picking first TIG Machine ?
very hard at the Everlast 200DV, 210EXT and 250EX. I considered the Hobart TIG but it misses by a long shot. Lincoln and Miller are out of reach. HTP seems like a decent machine but also a bit out of budget. ESAB Rebel is DC only and misses the mark. AHP seems like way to much of a risk and falls u...

Re: Beginner at tig and I have a few questions
There are a lot of ways to feed and not all of them work for everyone. Play around and see what actually feels natural. Personally I run the wire between my middle and ring fingers cause it feels better than between my index and middle fingers. Yeah, tried between different fingers, and I still get...

Tig welding HRS square tubing questions and some other stuff
Hello, I am planning on making my own welding cart and I was wondering until what thickness does the rule of "1 amp per 1 thousandths" apply? And at what amperage should I weld 1/8 thick 1x1 square tubing at? Using most likely 70 s-2 I will also be welding a 3/8 piece of plate to it so I a...

Just saying, usually the manufacturer cheaps out on pedals, I'll wait till I get my machine to see, buy many of the included ones are crap and you can feel the gears as you press with your foot (from what I heard)

question about grinding tungsten

recommendations for a good foot pedal? and how to swap them?
so i was thinking of getting a better foot pedal than the (i assume) cheap one that comes with the everlast powertig 250 ex, so i got 2 questions: what foot pedals do you recommend, and how easy is it to swap them? because i know they all come with their own "connectors" that go in the mac...

Re: What welding lens color do you use or reccomend?
The protective clear lens in front mainly protects the lens from spatter, not impact. When using a glass lens, you should also have a protective lens behind. Thus, a shattered glass is contained between two polycarbonate lenses. I specifically mentioned this a few posts ago. I quote it here, in hop...

Re: TIG torch and # questions.
What I was saying is that a "Stubby" gas lens basically changes a #3 series torch into a number #2 series torch and that means there's a lot less material to absorb heat. The reason one torch is rated for more amps than another all comes down to real estate, bigger adsorbs more. I've weld...

Re: suggestions on what TIG welder to get?
I've demoed the 250ex, The extra 50amps are worthwhile over most in this price range that are at 200amps. Feature wise it has everything you would need. Next step up would be something like the HTP221 then step to a Dynasty.. "1 and 3 phase operation 240V (minimum voltage 208 V)" does thi...
