Re: Arc marks

Thanks. I learned something today.
Being a noob I would have said that is stainless tube and the weld looks like the backside, unshielded stainless weld. When I think anodized I picture that dull finish.
Par for me.

Maybe (ha ) I'm an idiot. That weld looks great but the color of it does not. Am I missing something?

Radio frequencies dance around the skin of a conductor, true, but I don't think the frequency or the current is high enough to cause visible damage.

Re: Damaged wrist. Any tips or tools for one handed TIG-weld

I have looked at the Tig pens. I used to think they wouldn't help, but you have inspired me to revisit it as it may work in combination with some kind of wrist support. I bought a tig pen cause I have more money for toys than brains. I thought it to be the Cliffs notes so I didn't have to do my hom...

Re: My progress

I'm on a pedal. Don't have 2T or 4T. When you stop your car you lighten up on the brakes just before you stop to prevent that lurch when the wheels stop but the cars still moving a bit. When I weld I do the same and dab a bit extra filler before the pool cools. The thin aluminum is my toughest prob...

Re: setup for syncrow 250

That's where practice helps. You have to just get that tip very close. Tho 90 degree thing concentrates the gas and stabilizes the arc. Jody's vids show how he backs the tip off a bit when dabbing.....not so much away from the part, but backing up along the weld line.

Strange blue. Your practice looks good to me, even and structural. Those craters are an easy fix if you want. You using pedal, 4T or 2 T?

Re: Big gush of argon?

Thanks all! I'm gonna fix this for sure. I did a tiny fix job an noticed the surge was messing with the arc. That said, I have 20 feet of 1/4 od tube to the microwelder, and 6 feet of 1/4 I'd to the Everlast....all downstream of the flowmeter. Not good. In addition I found that even using the pedal,...

Re: Big gush of argon?

Point taken Ig. When I'm doing an inside corner on Alum I usually have problems with the arc dancing. I use long stick out to help a bit. If there was a nice stable flow at first would that help? The arc is going thru a gas. Does the arc prefer a different more easily ionized gas? I mean a DC or low...

Re: Big gush of argon?

Hey thanks for the suggestion of that orifice. I think I'll try it, albeit a bit bigger. There's no preflow on my unit when using the pedal. The gush happens when the arc starts. There's no problem I've seen from this behaviour. Just wasteful i think. I use 80 cf tanks and I found out recently how m...

Big gush of argon?

HI folks. I have the welder listed below. It came with a flowmeter. I was wondering if the pressure is too high though. When I start a weld there's a big gush. I don't know if it's adjustable. I could put a regulator ahead of the flowmeter I guess. I don't know if this affects my Al but my steel loo...

Re: Everlast 160STH 3 prong to 4 prong dryer plug

I got a 12 GA short ext cord and cut off the female end. Got the right plug and just used that 110-220 adapter we got with the Everlast. I know it's Frankenwiring but it works fine. (nothing gets warm) Also if anyone uses an extension for the standard 220 plug, just grease the thing. Man they can be...

Yeah.....but you get to live in Sweden don't forget. 5$ surcharge for the integrated regulator but not even close your prices.

Re: Puk 111 new used!

I'll get a video next week. I have just the lens for it. Won't be very entertaining. There's no footpedal. When you touch the electrode the gas flows for a second then a beep just before the solenoid retracts the electrode and fires the spark. Then the gas stops a second later. I have 100 watt-secon...

Re: Puk 111 new used!

Thanks. It'll be trial error, then file down and trial again. I tried it w/o gas just to see if this one worked. It did. It blew .100 holes in .020 brass so I think it has some oomph. I hope the pulse length is long enough to get a bit of flow. The last one I got -$2000 - wouldn't retract the electr...

Sorry man. Audio is an old friend.

How much $ was that kit? I've got my 164 on a couple old speakers in the shop. I've gotten good enough not to blow holes in .062 stainless.
