Re: DC Tig aluminum

Doesn’t your Everlast PowerMIG have the option to run ally? It would be a LOT easier... And probably look better too. Or just grab a Sooolgun for one of your other machines it can but i got all the tig stuff already and im not overly sure how well the everlast spool guns are/ i kinda have been mean...

Re: DC Tig aluminum

As for how it looks, the lack of AC and the cleaning action is the cause of the "Ewww!". for me the ewww is more about the gear required than the look. there is a couple of different methods depending on thickness of the aluminim. but they all need special setups. by mem running electrode...

DC Tig aluminum

do any of you do any DC TIG on Aluminum at all, if so i got a few questions on it.

1 can you get away with pure argon and just turn up compansating for the lack of heat the helium brings to it?

2 could you use a argon helium mix and still do it?

Re: Generators and welders thoughts?

depends on the type of machine your going to be running and also the welding amperage, Ie you could run a 300amp inverter on a 4000 watt generator running 90-125 AMPs but you wont be able to run a 250 amp mig welder at 230 amps doing spray transfer on that same generator. best thing i can say is to ...

Re: One gas to rule them all..

Ive been thinking on rolling over to Praxair's Stargon 90% argon, 8% C02, 2% O2 over C25 so i can do spray when i need to.

it dose good for spray and also dose good for short arc, I think it gose into spray at a lower amperage then C10 but im not 100%..

Re: Anyone running a invertec v300 pro for tig?

I know i can hook up a foot peddle to it with the right adaptor as it is basicly doing the same thing as the remote welding current or voltage knob they sell just have yet to figure out the proper adaptor to hook it up. its got like a 14 or 17 pin on the back and the remote controls ie foot peddle o...

yeah that would be about what your looking for, for a test one and then a test on the peace is about 30 degrees.

i run about 1/8 to 3/16 inch past the cup and i run about 1450 to 1550 amps and about .9 to 1 sec for the time. varries machine to machine.

Re: Dual shield flux core?

Studs.... 3/4 studs are not to much fun if the machine is not set right but when there running good u can get a fair number done in a day. Oh 3/4 studs to repair take a 3/8 inch fillet weld 1/2 inch either side of any place that is not flashed.. per D1.1 code book. Also for the love of god make sure...

Stick welder doing MIG welding

I know It works in spray transfer quite well, but I was curious why it will do spray transfer but not short arc.. I only came about trying this out because I got myself a invertec 300 and a wire feeder and after messing with it on CV I flipped it over to CC just fir the hell of it, and it worked wel...

Re: what do i need for my situation?

If you want to know how inverters work you will need to pick up a text book to get a dumbed down version of how it works. There simple in concept but also hard to explain though. Basically they take AC current convert it to DC then convert it to high frequency AC 25 KHz then step it down to lower vo...

i have had this welder for a long time. it's been around, but i never really used it "heavily." i was welding with it and it just "went into wuss mode." it still makes little wimpy sparks, but no where near what it's suppose to. i've been watching youtubes about blown up diodes ...

Re: How do you test voltage

Also make sure that welder is plugged right into the wall on at least a 25A circuit.. it's very power Hungary think of it like a pig that is been starved for a week.. it wants every last scrap of power it can get or it will not weld right in the upper settings IE past 2.. I have a 130 and I can lot ...

Re: help for those with Small MIG/Flux core welder's

Question, to those that know. Open circuit voltage readings are going to be one thing, while welding they drop down. Does wire feed speed also change on a mig machine as well? I've seen the method of calculating WFS (trigger and count 6 x10)... it would be interesting to see if this holds while wel...

Part of that reply is based on my current messing around. I've had a generator welder for many years and recently added a millermatic 130 to it. One fellow on welding web talked about getting a little more out of a mig plugged in by turning the rpms up a bit and raising the voltage output. WOW, tur...
