Re: How Much Metal to Leave on Tractor SSQA Mount?
I can't find any reference to holes in my posts, so I can't figure out what you're asking about. I read them a couple of times looking for it. I ended up cutting the ends off the plate and setting the middle part aside. I thought about it, and I considered the original ears, which had about 10"...

Re: How Much Metal to Leave on Tractor SSQA Mount?
Here is a bad photo of a Youtube video. A guy put a mount on a bucket about like mine. His mount came as two plates connected by a long, thin strip of steel. I don't think that strip does much of anything, and I could cut the center out of my panel and weld the ends to my angle iron support. I think...

Possibly-useless photo of the mount plate held above the tractor bucket.

How Much Metal to Leave on Tractor SSQA Mount?
I am putting an SSQA mount on my 60" LA681 Kubota bucket. To do this, I had to remove the old ears completely, as shown in the picture. I need a little advice on the mount plate I will be putting on the bucket. Because things are hard to find these days, I had to get a 3/8" solid plate, me...

Re: Help me Get my Oxy-Propane Cutting Torch Going
Of course, you are right. I was feeling pretty crabby last night. I thought I was in for a one-hour job. Then I couldn't get anywhere with propane. Then I had problems with plasma, which is usually very easy. And I set my hair on fire a few times and also had to put out a cardboard box which was too...

Re: Extended Tips for Powermax 600?
I just found out Hypertherm wants $500 for a newer type of torch. That's insane. For $800, I can have a new Everlast cutter, torch included. Thinking of getting a Powerplasma 52i or 62i, if I can make it run on a 50-amp circuit.

Extended Tips for Powermax 600?
I have a Hypertherm Powermax 600 with a PAC123T hand torch. I just learned Powermax makes Hyaccess consumables that extend the reach of Hypertherm torches to make cutting easier in tight spaces. Does anyone know whether these things work with this old torch? Also, are there other companies making th...

So basically, it's a pain to learn. Makes me appreciate plasma. I will keep at it.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Help me Get my Oxy-Propane Cutting Torch Going
I watched a video, and I think I may have it working. The guy said to create a 2.5" star pattern when pressed up against metal, so I did that, and then I cut a piece of 1/8" bar. It looks like this is not much like plasma. As soon as you get a plasma arc, you pop through the work, and the ...

Help me Get my Oxy-Propane Cutting Torch Going
I am trying to take the ears off an old-style Kubota bucket so I can weld a quick attach mount on it. I have three tools available: a plasma cutter, a big Metabo grinder with Walter disks, and a Victor oxy-propane outfit with a size 1 torch. I would guess I want to get through 3/8"-1/2" of...

I got a $25 reel from Harbor Freight, and I'll find a way to put a handle and rubber feet on it. Should work.

I want to be able to carry it into a house or wherever I want. It's annoying, because I can get a 50-foot reel but not a 100-foot reel.

Portable Reel for 100' 3/8" Air Hose?
I have a 100-foot air hose with no reel. I got it so I could use it with a portable compressor or connect it to the end of a hose going to my stationary compressor. My original storage solution, i.e. throwing it on the shop floor, is not working out. How do the rest of you store spare hoses you want...

Re: MIG for Tractor Bucket Attachment Plates?
I was going to grab some 0.35" wire and use C25. I have never even tried flux core. I believe I have the flux wire that came with both of my machines. Will flux give me a better result? I don't mind doing lots of passes. I have nothing better to do. By the way, 11 pounds of solid wire cost $95 ...

Re: MIG for Tractor Bucket Attachment Plates?
Thanks for the help. I would have been fine with paying $900 for a new bucket, but we now live in a world where shortages have even hit cream cheese. I tried to buy a quick attach adaptor from one company, and they told me I was looking at three months. Oddly, Amazon had it and was able to get it he...

MIG for Tractor Bucket Attachment Plates?
Greetings, fine people of Welding Tips and Tricks. Haven't been here in a while. Hope everyone is doing well in spite of the general disintegration of human civilization. I have a welding question. I decided to get myself a quick-attach adaptor for my old tractor. I'm sure many people here know what...

I started using it, and it's fantastic. It sticks to the table well, and if you have a project that stands up, you can attach the light to the project itself when welding joints higher up.

LED Grill Light for Welding
I have tried to get decent welding lights for years, and as technology has moved forward, I have gotten closer and closer to getting what I want. For a few years, I've been using a gooseneck LED lamp with a magnetic base. It's pretty good, but it's a pain to move it around because of the cord, it's ...
