Re: Which stick, Which process? Arena Drag refit

Pretty good! Nothing broke off - I still go to the same farm to work and I think it probably needs done again. Blue stone is pretty abrasive!

Re: 1970’s Motorcycle Crankcase

Thanks very much for your information. It does sound like a lot of grief, but might be worth it in the long run. Maybe I’ll go the machining/spacer route to start and if that doesn’t hold together try a build up with weld. I’m just trying to figure out the lesser of two evils. Introducing filler met...

1970’s Motorcycle Crankcase

Evening all. I’m looking for some advise on a repair I’m thinking of making on a case off of a 1974 Triumph motorcycle I’m rebuilding. The rear engine mount was fargled by the previous owner. They placed the engine in the frame without a spacer on the rear mount and just cranked on the mounting bolt...

Re: Which stick, Which process? Arena Drag refit

Just checking back in. That was a big job! Mark - thanks for the idea for setting up the drag - of course my old tractor at home wouldn't start so my trusty flat bed was the fixture plate. I ran a few test pieces and I didn't think that my little Millermatic had enough ass to weld all the joints on ...

Re: Which stick, Which process? Arena Drag refit

Thanks very much for all your replies. I might go the Flux Core route, given that I haven't run stick in such a long time. I'm thinking most of the welding is going to be vertical, I don't have anything big enough to move that thing so I can weld on the flat. I wasn't sure if the little Miller had e...

Which stick, Which process? Arena Drag refit

One of my clients, in my non welding day job, asked me to help repair an arena drag they have. Said piece of equipment is used to drag a horse riding arena to break up and even out the footing. The teeth are worn and they've asked me if I could weld on some new. Looks like its just 5/8" square,...

Hi, I wanted to say thanks to the "Tips and Tricks" community - great videos, podcast and regular human beings - a rarity in today's world. I learned to weld at night school in the UK - Stick (MMA as it was back then) and Oxy/Acetylene. Not ever very proficient though, but managed to stick...
