Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Nice work and damned nice shop! Thank you, I may not be Mr.T but "I pity the fool". I've been at it full time for 14 or 15 years now. First profession was test and R&D engineer, but me and the white collar world didn't get along, politics vs speak your mind. I'm not great at any one t...

Re: How it all got started

[/quote] The no welding crap popped up because a majority of todays "man" can't even change a flat tire and walk around looking more like a girl than a man, They all walk like they have a butt plug in or something. How the Hell can you teach something like that to weld? Maybe we're welders...

Re: Completely over-engineered welding cart.

Very nice cart, well thought out. I have a new machine coming and you sir have given me some really good ideas that I just might "borrow". The bottle ramp is ingenious. One question, where does the beer cooler go?

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Here is this afternoons work, a cart for a local Armenian deli meat manufacturer and fixing a buddy's chair. Was quoting construction and chasing parts in the morning. The stainless was filthy, it's been on the shelf for quite a while. I just buffed the area to be welded with the flap disk as I was ...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Hey Rudyray...nice welding. I notice no obvious signs of cleaning the metal prior to welding. Is this for cosmetic reasons or just a time saver as you do so many? I have tried not cleaning SS and it welds like crap. Thank you. I can usually weld them as delivered from the customer, fresh off the la...

Re: E3 Tungsten

All I use is E3, I have been using it for AC & DC repairs and fabrication work for the last 2 years, I used to have throiated and green until my LWS told me about E3 and the fact that it can be used on any metal on both AC and DC, since then, its all I use and it works great for me. Are you usi...

10-4 on that. $50 for a part that could kill you or someone else? No questions asked. As well, then the liability is on them, not you.

Re: Which flap discs?

I have found 9x out of 10 you get exactly what you pay for. A local company has these made with their name on it from a small manufacturer. They are not cheap, but a little less expensive than the big name brands and last just as long if not longer. http://www.jiscodirect.com/index.html I buy their ...

Re: Cast Aluminum Pulley Repair

Great job on that pulley repair. I get things like thin in my shop from time to time and they want a quote, which I quickly give them an honest estimate based on time, then they think I'm cheating them. "A new one only costs $X.xx !!". Then by all means, go buy a new one, this isn't China ...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Thank you, I just stumbled into this trying to learn about E3 tungsten and thought it could come in very handy.

Start to finish is about 3 hours, a good jig helps a lot. I do this job (110 pieces) about every 3 to 4 weeks.

E3 Tungsten

I'm trying new tungsten types in a Syncrowave 250, I've only used Thorated (DC) and Pure (AC) for the longest time. My local weld shop does not carry Lanthenated but they swore up an down on the E3, which apparently comes in all the new inverter machines. I first tried the E3 sharp and it worked dec...

This was today's 11ga SS job shop project. They bring me the laser cut parts and I fuse them. They get wire brushed before they are done.
