I picked up one of these, much nicer cut. Bought on on sale locally, but they have nicer ones too.

I'm glad some like em I've had 2 & both of them sucked IMO. This works good at home, if you can find one.

Re: Weird issue with aluminum welding.

I had a similar issue a few years ago, I think the torch I was using was broken someplace & it wasn't getting good gas flow or the flow was contaminated. Like you a different torch worked fine.

Re: New helmet time

Don’t know how it compares to Lincoln but I just bought one and it blows away my old cheap helmet. The headgear isn’t that great but in the comments on amazon guys say you can swap it for Lincoln headgear no problem. They even give the item number for the Lincoln headgear. Re: Aluminium tig beginner

Do you have a different torch to try? I had a flex head & it was welding bad, turned out it had been flexed too many times. It must have been broken someplace & wasn't getting all the flow to the cup.

One is just a socket weld fitting. The other two are from the base of a pedestal I made.
Beautiful.

My miller Dialarc like about 115 amps for 3/32 7018, won't hardly run them at less than 95.
Tap the rod on the concrete floor when it's still hot, works pretty good for restarts.

How about the torch itself? Is it a flex head? I had one that I couldn't weld alum, with (I'm no pro) change to a different on & welds great. Must have broke inside somewhere.
