Re: Air or no air welding helmet

Seems to me if he is requiring you to wear this thing he is the one should be paying for it, your not going to get one for just a few bucks. I can tell you this, I wore one once, I told the superintendent if I got to wear this thing you can find someone else, I drug up

Re: My new ride

Popeye, next time I'm in your neck of the woods (only God knows when that might be), we're going to have to cook something with that weed-burner, and throw back a beer or three. Steve Sounds like a great idea, there is quite a few deer around around here that need to be ate, and some snappin turtle...

Re: My new ride

Nice setup. Still should be getting better mileage. Have you replaced any of the fuel system? Or timed it? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk Thank you...other than the routine fuel filter changes, oil filter changes, air filters etc no I haven't done any work on it. when things slow down a bit I...

Re: My new ride

I wish they still made trucks like that - manual windows / locks / no computer bull s#it - nice - bit surprised about the mileage - I figured the 7.3 would do better especially if yours is a non turbo - guess the terrain & low gearing plus loaded weight hurts it - but still thought it would do ...

Re: My fire pit..

I like your fire pit the welds look good to me, its not gonna fall apart and you did it yourself, so you accomplished your goal, and that's good. A little tip...any welder who is worth his salt will find something wrong with his own weld...a weee bit of undercut here, a small piece of slag stuck fas...

Re: My new ride

Very nice looking rig - I'm a little jealous except for the fuel mileage - living this side of the pond with our fuel prices rules out most full size trucks - excuse my ignorance but on that year is it still got the reliable 7.3 diesel or are you into the drive by wire computer crap generation on t...

Re: Welding rail road track together

Ive worked on what we call a grizzly back home in the mines, I'm thinkin its the same thing you are workin on, just a big ol screen made out of rails set up on legs with a bit of pitch. When ours would break and this was on a regular basis even with new rails, I would cut fish plates out of 1/2 inch...

I'm in in Clearwater, not international or exotic  True, but even Key West is still technically Florida. This started as a fifty-states thing, and went international through my direct interference. Any post card form anywhere will be a welcome bit of amazement. This is a tiny backwater school ...

It looks like you got it goin on young fella...looks good...stick welding can be slow, but its a whole buncha fun...back in the day when that was all I had to work with it was nothing for me to burn 50 to 70 pounds of 3/16" and 1/4" 7018 in a 10 hour day while doin a dragline bucket...over...

Vague memory...must be part of the aging process. All I remember is a bunch of folks tellin me it wasnt gonna work and that it was vertical. Old Owen Horn, God Bless his soul was the only one said I could do it and told me how to do it, old boy taught me most of what I ever knew. I put it vertical s...

Nice lookin weld you done there, NR 211 is self shielded wire you need any gas and bein as its self shielded wire, for vertical up keep in mind you point the wire down a wee bit or keep it level...point it up it just wants to dig into your steel and makes grapes and hemmoroid type lookin things. tur...

Re: Problem with acetylene

I know this can happen if the bottle is laid down but that's not the problem, the only other time it has happened was one winter (1993 or 94 I think) it was 20 some below zero at home for a week or so and even colder up on the mountain. I had 2 bottles in the rig and they both went that way, they fi...
