Re: Esab Rebel EMP 235ic Review (Updated 2/3/18)

Still loving this machine! Still no custom cart yet. I just cant make up my mind on how I want to build it. I love the multi-process convenience. This is the nicest non-pulse wire feed welder Ive ever used. I like it so much I choose to swap out spools for small projects instead of keeping a smaller...

Re: Mig Spray Transfer with C3 for Mild and Stainless Steel!

I use c25 for everything mild steel. All the big manufacturers offer several different "dual shielded" wires optimized for use with a 75%/25% mix. Same goes for 100% Co2. Just read the info slip that came with your wire, or simply call the manufacturer. They will tell you everything you ne...

Re: Esab Rebel EMP 235ic Review (Updated 2/3/18)

Sorry for the delayed response! It is doing great! Ive put about 15lbs of .045 dual shield wire through and about 20lbs of stick electrodes. No problems so far. I did a crap ton of welding on a 6-way dozer blade carriage for a Case 450. It was riddled with cracks and mangled repairs. I used dual shi...

Got the welder today. Back in business. They got me going with a brand new machine in less than a weeks time. That is excellent service.

Re: If your newest favorite welder let you down.........

Thanks for all the great insight everyone. My LWS is Scott Gross. I am pretty much done with them. Unfortunately, my only other option is Radnor(AirGas). I turned a torch into them for rebuild and they lost it. But their hazmat fee is $5. So what do ya do? From now on all my consumables will be orde...

Re: Esab Rebel EMP 235ic Review (Updated 2/3/18)

Esab is sending a new machine. Should be here in a couple days. It's good to see a multi-national corporation catering to a tiny one man shop. I could have easily been swept under the rug and hung out to dry. They arent messing around when they guarantee 100% customer satisfaction. Thanks Esab.

Re: If your newest favorite welder let you down.........

I usually go for the boot stomp  Brought the welder to the LWS today. They wanted to charge me $50 to ship it to their "shop" and $80/hr to diagnose and fix. WTF?? Called Esab tech and he says they are sending me a new machine. So hopefully this works out. Heck, if they told me that t...

Re: If your newest favorite welder let you down.........

I dont really have to have an "industrial" machine. I also didnt purchase the Esab with the intent to be welding around the clock. Sometimes the welder sits in the corner and collects dust. Winters are real slow around here. Especially as of late. I know I cant take a Synchro into a horse ...

Re: If your newest favorite welder let you down.........

Im actually not sure what I want to do at this point. Im tired of looking at machines and comparing features blah blah blah. I just want to get to work with a machine that flat out runs. If I can ditch the Rebel for a reliable machine I will. I have a Lincoln Wire-Matic 255 that I keep at another sh...

Re: If your newest favorite welder let you down.........

I would like to have the HTP Invertig221. However, I priced the PT225 when I bought the Esab and I could get it just under $2K with torch and pedal. The HTP is much more. As for the PT225 being a dinosaur, maybe that is what I need. I looked at the synchro. I need to test drive one. Other than being...

If your newest favorite welder let you down.........

I have an Esab Rebel 235ic. I have an updated review of it in the Product Reviews discussion board. Check it out if you havent yet. So I have had it for about 9 months now. It has pooped out on me. It also has made me look bad to a couple customers. Im the only guy in the county that will do any kin...

Re: Soot in front of weld

I recently had a soot issue with my Rebel 235. I was getting black soot in mig and tig post flow. Discovered i had tiny leaks where the hoses connected to the machine. Wrapped the threads with teflon and it didnt happen again. Not saying its the same for you, but may be worth a look. Good luck!

Re: Esab Rebel EMP 235ic Review

Okay, it's time for an update! Ive got alot of good stuff to talk about. However there is a serious issue Ive just had with it. I have not been up to a whole lot with this machine lately. We have been smacked down with one deep freeze then thaw after another. Kind of a mess here in East KY. The scho...

Re: Esab Rebel EMP 235ic Review

My apologies for being so late to respond! I have been using the welder on a weekly basis. I onlt use it for MIG and stick. I have not messed around much with tig yet. Im still setting up my shop getting ready for a cnc plasma table. This Rebel 235 is a super nice machine. I havent had any issues wh...

Re: Esab Rebel EMP 235ic Review

Well I didnt get to do much welding yesterday. I made a couple brackets out of 1/4" on the table so not too much of a test there. The arc quality is just frikin sweet. I have a Lincoln Wirematic 250 that has been my go-to machine and I really like it over the Millermatics Ive used. But this Reb...

Esab Rebel EMP 235ic Review (Updated 2/3/18)

Well, I was typing away a nice lengthy first impressions review and *poof*. Gone. I will start using the "save draft" feature from now on lol. I have a job to do today so I will bring it along and test it out a little more. I will say that I am so far very impressed. LOVE the Tweco accesso...

I'm excited about the plasma. I've only watched an instructor demonstrate one and on TV and vids of course. For whatever reason that instructor wouldn't let "the Marine" try it out. What sucks is my shop isn't even wired in yet so I'll be stuck staring at it for a few weeks lol. ...

Re: I thought buying another welder would be "easier"!......

Well, I went to my LWS and ordered the Esab Rebel emp 235ic. I also ordered a Hypertherm Powermax 85 and he gave me a hell of a deal on the machine and hand torch bundle. Since I was already buying the plasma I lucked out. It was more like getting money off the welder. Thanks for all the input. I wi...

Jmedic25, Thanks for your review on the Everlast 230i. I nearly bought one right when they came out I don't doubt the quality, capability, or craftsmanship of Everlast welders. My concern is when/if it does go down my business will be without a tool that I rely on to make a living. Sure it may be c...

Re: Inweld electrodes

I know yall are talking stick electrodes, but yesterday I ran out of my lincoln 70s6 .035 wire in my lincoln wire matic 250. I had a roll of inweld .035 70s wire I picked up just to try. So I loaded it in and started running it as before with no parameters changing. I couldn't even get it to weld cl...

Re: I thought buying another welder would be "easier"!......

Just an update. I have ruled out Everlast. Though I would love to play with one, I need something more than a toy that could be a boat anchor for six months if it breaks down. However, I still want a 250ex for my shop. Maybe next year. I am really looking at thermal arc/tweco/esab 3 in 1 units. Just...

Ryan, the ac/dc multi-process unit from Everlast isn't a rumor. I've spoken to Oleg, president of Everlast USA, on Instagram about this machine. It has not met it's projected release date, but I've seen pictures of the production prototype, and it's not much bigger than the 250EXT. Just enough extr...
