Re: struggling with aluminum and tig

Guys I am really struggling to run beads on aluminum. Ive been practicing on .125 . I can run a perfect bead no filler , even on the edge. The settings reacts exactly how all the videos say they should. The white band from the cleaning , Foot pedal responds decent, It happens just like the videos, ...

Re: Can I TIG weld copper?

I've been asked to weld some copper bus bars together to lengthen them. The bars are about 1/4" thick and apparently pure copper. Either way, I can find out what exactly they are made of. Can I TIG weld copper just like aluminum? If I can, what rod, anything particular I need to be aware of? P...

I have access to both tig & mig Miller welders 300 amp, the plate will need to be flat when done. pic attached I could weld the plate to the 8 x 8 tube first? Strongly recommend against welding a ROUND member directly to a FLAT plate. You will not achieve adequate fusion in the interface betwee...

@Ant428 - material error, on my part. Wrongly assumed you were talking about welding 1/2” thick ALUMINUM vice carbon steel. In context for steel, my amperage numbers are way hot/hot. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Vertical Tig Plate

@Ant428 - up your Tungsten to 1/8” for starters. 135A for 1/2” Ally, irrespective of welding position amd joint preparation, is cold/cold. You’ll need a baseline amperage of 280+A to fuse this joint, IMPO. Use 1/8” 4043/5356/4943 filler. A 280A rig with H25 (75Ar/25He) may have the boost to inject a...

Our Force Majeur for ferrous/non-ferrous materials is a 3.2mm (1/8in) Tungsten. RED for ferrous, BLUE for non-ferrous, and CREAM for special apps. 90% of the Tungsten manufactured by DGP (German). Re: Controlling aluminum distortion

@ Aaronmnwelder - recommend you build 2ea of these assemblies “back to back”. Think symmetry. Mechanically affix the base plates to one another via fasteners in the bolt holes. Use additional clamps to achieve a flat/flat geometry. Now, you will be welding an 1/8” tube to a sandwiched base plate of ...

We're going the other way. Sourcing 4% Thoriated Tungsten. DGP, direct from Germany. The increased volume of Th oxides will lower the Work Function (eV) and promote super smooth arc starting capabilities. Our goal is to boost the performance of properly profiled 1/8" RED Tungsten for thin/thin ...
