Re: Smaller Torch

Having an air cooled setup at my house, it was a pleasure going from a 17 to a 9 setup. To keep it simple for $110 I just bought a full #9 setup from HTP so I can easily just twist and switch. Most I do automotive piping and turbo stuff. So the majority of the time I'm under 130amps. Sent from my E6...

Re: Can’t get the new welder to do it right

I have same welder and had similar problem with thin (0.050") aluminum. Nothing worked so I finally took it back to the dealer figuring something was wrong with it.The techs looked at each other and smirked. They handed me a gray banded electrode and told me to try it. It worked. With thicker ...

Re: All types of Welding Safety - Question

I've seen mine toss the cut piece across the shop at a velocity that would do serious harm! Found I had a missing tooth on the blade. I quickly bought a horizontal band saw to be done with it. Unless u can really clamp the work piece hard, I wouldn't even think about using it. Its great to cut wood...

Re: All types of Welding Safety - Question

I know this response isn't exactly welding, but a few years ago I picked up one of those Evolution rage saws. To anyone that is thinking about buying one..... I bought this saw for a short project I needed to cut/weld/cut etc etc. I must say, that saw needs to be respected. No joke. I was cranking a...

Re: Pulse vs. Pedal

I'll probably get flamed for this but I'm a manual pulse welder. I learned this way from a unbelievable welder/fabricator. Teaches control, allows you keep the heat out etc etc ......BUT.... Its kinda got its time and place. IMO for fusion welds it works great, I also seem to use this practice when ...

Re: Why am I getting spattering and popping??

Couple customers begged me to build them a couple turbo cars. So, being in the auto industry as a full out repair and a passion for performance, I've spent 20 years with a mig here and there. Unfortunately mig won't fly when doing these types of builds. So, needed to buy a tig for home/performance b...
