upgrade

Hi, Ive recently upgraded all my welders to Uni Mig inverter machines, does any one have opinions on these machines? I like what I've heard so far...I do know there's always better however i think bang for your buck these machines are good.

Re: Hello fellow welders.

It's been a while since I last posted as ive been flat out distilling and fabricating when i'm not busy....(yeah right) here is another distilling tool I make in my slower periods and or spare time. Welcome to the forum, it's funny how things are under your nose and you don't realise it until someone shows you, mig does take some practice to lay in the welds properly, thats technique...setting up the voltage and wire speed is follow instructions that usually come with the machine...and write do...

Re: Which welder for a new student

I remember sitting in class my first night at Tafe, Tafe is our premium trade college here in Australia, and our teacher telling us not to race out and buy a welder as they have them...did I listen, yes but no! I purchased a stick welder as soon as I could, me, I'm a believer in quality, not the so ...

Welcome to the forum, build your workshop slow, build as much as you can...strive for perfection but do not beat yourself up if it doesnt go to plan...and of course practice on scrap before using good steel.

Re: First Post

Welcome! My cert-flat table is one of the best thing I have bought for my shop! I haven't found anything I haven't been able to clamp down to weld. As far as clamps, make your own. Harbor Freight has what you need and it a good start. You just need to buy 1 1/2" X 3/16" flat stock and 5/8...

Re: Hi from Australia

Thanks for the welcome. Did you work commercially after that break or just pick it up again for fun? I found that I can stick metal together efficiently as if I'd never left but despite improving a hell of a lot I can't quite get welds or oxy fuel cuts as good as I'd like. I've built a 36 metre dis...

Re: Been useing a new inverter welder

Too much amperage, does the electrode wobble in holder even though it properly clamped? small rods are tricky to run, I remember running small stuff back in the day and it was difficult, keep turning the amperage down until it starts to stick to the job (bit of off cut) then slowly turn up the amper...

Re: wire speed controler

I pulled the side off the mig to have a look and blow out the dust from the years it's been sitting idle, here is a photo of the wire speed pot from behind and one of the branding.
