Re: What’s best way to cut expanded metal?

Screw it to a piece of plywood and use circular saw for rough shape...then either cutting wheel or band saw, oxy for final shape.

Re: Do I really need a water cooled torch?

I use my water cooled torch when I will be welding for a long period of time. But I typically have my air cooled on. Aluminum is the only exception to this.

So unless you are using super high amps, long periods of time, or AL it's completely up to you.

Re: Miller vs HTP on thin aluminum

HTP... the service is going to be better... maybe a wee bit slower if you have to send it in... but better. I ordered a dinse plug for my Lincoln from them the service was way better than Lincoln. That is what I have to say. Service

I am no expert but have done both... I like tapered. It will ball a bit on it's own.

Re: Table saw or cordless circular saw?

Right a single angle. I chose 30° and I know it isn't a perfect 30° but it works well for a bevel hasn't got a bunch of chemical impurities worked into it. Mainly because it is a version of a drycut saw. So I just have to grind back an inch or so to remove rust and whatever else is there. Sent from ...

I'll take a picture when I head back out to my shop... but it works out as a degreed plate that bolts to the shoe.

Re: Table saw or cordless circular saw?

I recently aquired one of these...

we use them at work occasionally, but not consistantly. I love these for cutting plate and heavy tubing. Have already made a bevel adapter.

Re: Table saw or cordless circular saw?

We had 3 of those dual counter rotating bladed saws at work... they didn't last a day. Trying to cut 1/4 aluminum tread plate. Now we do have a tendency to take the lifetime guarentee as a challenge accepted, but one would think that durability should last more thatn 8 hour shift. The 2 minutes I ra...

2 things... 1) convex casters roll better and (2) higher quality casters also roll better.

I am spoiled by having Colson Caster distribution center here in town.

I agree... with the gas issue... that looks like a #6 cup... I would double your gas see if that helps.

PREFACE: How Square? 1) Band-Saws (laydown) work, but require checking... sub 1 Degree is great if blade gets dull walks too 2) Dry-cut (non modified base & back fence) cut good for welding 3) Dry-cut saw (Modified base and Back Fence) cut GREAT 4) Abrasive saw makes a mess Cold-Saw Cuts GREAT, ...

Re: AC/DC TIG Welder that runs on 480 3 Phase power

An electrician can drop a 220v outlet in for a small fee. That was option 1... others will have other options I'm sure. But if you can run 480 3 phase I would. Never have a problem with being under fed.

Pulse Settings?

Howdy Folks, First post here, and while my machine has pulse I have never used it. To be honest I am not opposed to using the feature, but I don't truly understand why I would need it. OK I know that it is not NEEDED, but why would a person want it? Lord knows that I am not the best welder around; b...
