Re: New Topic,, but maybe not...

Oscar, Thanks for the reply and vote of confidence. Without your input I might still be procrastinating about getting one. I to had to work with Gary. He sent me a questionnaire to fill out which meant 'dissecting' my foot pedal and finding V/Ω values. I now know more about foot pedals than I will e...

Re: New Topic,, but maybe not...

v5cv66, The type button you have is the new and most current one. The button I requested Dave and Gary set up for me is, how can I say, more fragile than what you have. You need to understand that I'm not in a commercial shop environment and will always be the sole user of my torch so I like the str...

Re: New Topic,, but maybe not...

v5cvbb, Similar to you I was having issues with the foot pedal. I contacted Dave at TIG Control and he put me in contact with his partner Gary. This was because they did not offer the button for my welder. Gary and I worked together in developing one for my welder. Last Monday I received it, I insta...

Re: Gas Lens

it is the same button that oscar is holding in his left hand. there are other parts that go with it that are mounted to the welder to power the button. Dave Vogel has a video how to connect the tig button. I don't know how to post pictures on this thing. and the grandkids are not living here to sho...

Re: Gas Lens

I bought one of those tig buttons. It definitely takes some getting used to, but once that happens, it's great. Hard to believe that it only takes very little pressure to make a difference. The darn button doesn't move and doesn't squish,,it just works. I had the velcro take a crap on mine so using...

Oscar,,,

Is the torch on the right in photo 1 the tigcontrol.com finger button? The ones to the left appear to be a 'slider' and a 'caterpillar' type control.

Gas Lens

Hey Folks, I use a CK17 Flex air cooled torch. I've been getting my stubby gas lens 'stuff' (#7, 3/32") from Amazon. Some of them are short lived. I looked at CK's site and they say I need to go to a weld supply. Where do most of you get your consumables like this?? Being on 'lock-down' I need ...

[/quote] In case you were somehow unclear, the $65 is for a lifetime subscription, not a monthly fee. Amortized over a year, it's little more than $5/monthly, $0.18/day, or $0.02/hour on a given 8 hour work day. I wonder how many times you've spent your $0.02 giving advice, but won't pay for it? I paid the $45 for access to 6061 last year. It is video only with no talking. He adds text sometimes for explanation. I don't feel it was worth the money. Jody not only has great arc shots, but he tells you what to pay attention to during the shots. As for the tig button, I am thinking of making o...

Hey Folks, I did a lot of 'out-of-position' burning with my MIG. Now that I'm climbing the GTAW hill I'm finding the the 'pedal' is sometimes a pain. I'm not saying that it does not have a place. Most times it is indispensable. I have researched some old posts and found one that 'Oscar' posted back ...

Hey all, 'Jody' make my head explode like the Martians in the movie "Mars Attacks". And his store?? I get 'stuff' from Amazon in 2 days. But, the info is good I will say . Actually, I'd rather be in the shop burning up consumables, just me. I must be in the 0.001% as all the posts in site ...

Re: I' Getting Spanked...

Here is another little practice piece if you're interested. Good way to practice a couple different joints at once and learn how to order them and tac every thing to prevent warping and stuff. If you have aluminum blocks try a couple welds with and without to see how the blocks help prevent scaling...

Re: I' Getting Spanked...

Good rule of thumb is 1 amp per thousands of an inch on carbon steel. https://www.benedict-miller.com/content.cfm/Resources/Decimal-Gauge-Conversion-Chart/category_id/103/page_id/141 14ga is about .083 so I'd set the machine for 85 to 90 amps. Stainless steel multiply by 2/3 (.66) for amp range whi...

Yup, but the good thing is once you have your technique down, its difficult to forget, kinda like riding a bike. Sure you may fall out of practice, but it's easy to pick up again with just a little bit of practice again. Oscar, Thanks for the vote of confidence.... I gotta tell you that I used to t...

Re: Victor Regulator

Yo Coldman, Billie.Dee, Man,,, sometimes I even dumb-a** myself. The leak was at the argon connection going into my new TIG welder. Geeess, with my old MIG I did not have to ' horse-torque' the hose fitting. I guess that my new welder needed some 'seating' at the connection for the first few times. ...

Victor Regulator

Hey Folks,

I've been noticing that lately that my old (8 yr) Victor HRF 1425 regulator seems to bleed pressure down faster after the bottle is shut off. It bleeds down in about 2 minutes.

The hose in new and the welder is also new. Am I being paranoid??
