Re: Getting shocked from work clamp
I don't know what's inside that machine but it sounds like there is a short between the welding circuit and mains ground. Assuming the case is grounded (connected to mains ground), your open circuit voltage of 82V will appear (probably) between the return clamp and the case (or mains ground). It is ...

I realise it doesn't help you much but I am curious how that is an upgrade. I would go to the ball type rather than from it. Is what you have of poor quality - or broken - that you want to change?

Re: Big gush of argon?
This entire years old thread is a solution in search of a problem. A single, moment of a rush of argon is completely inconsequential to welding. Anyone who doesn’t tap a pedal when first setting up, or checking for leaks after a tank swap is an alien. You can’t even begin to calculate the “l...

Re: Big gush of argon?
HI folks. I have the welder listed below. It came with a flowmeter. I was wondering if the pressure is too high though. When I start a weld there's a big gush. I don't know if it's adjustable. I could put a regulator ahead of the flowmeter I guess. I don't know if this affects my Al but my steel lo...

Re: 100% argon for mig welding
to add, mig (mild steel) is actually mag ie active gas. Yes, that's true. But you are not going to change the seemingly millions of people who call anything with a wire feeder "MIG". That's why I wrote "MIG (GMAW & FCAW-G)". here tri mix is the norm which has a small amount ...

Re: 100% argon for mig welding
Can someone explain to me what exactly is happening with mild steel mig with 100% argon vs mild steel tig using 100% argon? I't not just shielding gas. Some other molecular activity involved. What sort of molecular activity are you seeing? TIG uses DCEN and, even though the current in the ARC is ma...

He's tried from 20%-50% on the AC balance with little to no cleaning action. Cleaning will only occur where there is gas coverage so even if there is sufficient balance adjustment, cleaning won't happen if (say) the cup is too small. I only asked because wouldn't he be on the wrong side of the bala...

Re: What Does "C25" Mean?
Here's a weird question. When I buy C25, is it 25% CO2 by mass, volume, or what? The relevant standards will tell you but, like you, I don't have them. However, BOC states: The designation system shall be based on volumetric percentages. https://www.boc-gas.com.au/en/images/BOC_223453_Shielding%20G...

I have seen many videos where the weld looks like "stacked dimes" but mine seem to be the correct height and width but smooth. Lincoln Square Wave 200, 1/8" mild steel, 3/38 Lazr tungsten, 120 amps, 1pps. Ideas? No doubt with a key word of "dimes", there will be other posts...

In addition, if you have a single stage regulator, when you swap from an empty cylinder to a full one, your regulated pressure and flow will be less. Depending on your setup, it may be quite a bit less. You need to check that the flow with the full cylinder is sufficient for the job - in your case, ...

Sorry to mention the obvious, but do you have the leads the right way around? It matters in AC so the balance works properly.

Another great product option is Toilet Bowl cleaner. Stronger than vinegar, works a bit faster, and easily neutralized by fresh water. Wet the surface, pour on the Cleaner, watch is bubble, when bubbles subside, rinse and dry and oil. Done. If it makes a difference to you, that probably contains hy...

Re: HTP Revolution 2500 AC/DC Multi-Process
Hello Oscar, What is the chance of you getting some graphs of the MIG pulse and double pulse waveforms (shape + magnitude)? I am interested to see what the peak current is. Some machines set the maximum peak current at the nominal maximum current of the machine meaning that the average is considerab...

Ok looked at my torch wiring a bit more and found that is the correct partnumber as once I cut the sheething back I found the connector about 1.8 meters back from the torch and that is indeed the part that has failed so hopefully this should be easy from here now I know the part number I need. Re: kemppi MLS2300 no welding arc
OK so now on the phone to the kemppi reps here in NZ. One of them just tried to tell me (I guess its possible) that this kemppi main current line for the TTC 250 W torch is just as expensive as buying a completely new torch (obviously the newer style ones). This main line splits at the machine end ...

Re: Gas Flow Setting
Hi cj737 I know that gas only flows while squeezing the trigger, but I wasn't sure if I should be setting the gauge while squeezing the trigger. I think what is happening here is I'm confusing a flow meter for a pressure gauge. A pressure gauge is what I have. A flowmeter is the little ball that's ...

Re: gas leaking from tank connection
Yes, and some are just brass with no O-ring so it is even more important to have good surfaces. As brass is soft it is a bit forgiving but that also means you don't over tighten it.
