Re: 6013 ductility?

Ductility is a materials rating dictating how well it can be drawn into wire. Elongation is what you are looking for. There is no way to tell with the information you are giving. The bend radius will have a major impact, as well as the final cross-sectional area. Care to disclose more information? ...

Re: Earth lead

How hot? If it's hot enough to cause a fire then yeah I would definitely upsize your ground. if it's only like 150 deg F I wouldn't worry too much about it.

6013 ductility?

Planning to use 5/64 6013 on some 22ga sheet metal, I would like to weld consecutive lap joints on a flat surface and then forge the whole piece into a cylinder afterward. Will the 6013 welds be able to deform as well as the sheet metal, or will attempting this fracture all the welds.

Re: Very green welder here. Question about storing my machin

One thing to watch out for is if the machine is colder than the dew point of the area you move it to will potentially cause condensation to collect on the inside/ circuit boards. Not good. I’ve had this happen when you bring a machine into a warm building after it’s beed stored outside in a cold tr...

Re: Very green welder here. Question about storing my machin

If it stays in the box during use with (say) its barn doors open it will need clearance for cooling but I don't know the actual requirements. I assume the gas bottle is in the box too for security so depending on the size of the bottle, it is a fairly big box. Don't make it for a small bottle thoug...

Very green welder here. Question about storing my machine

I recently installed a 50 amp 240v outlet in my carport for my lincoln 225 AC/DC, I plan on doing 95% of all my welding out there. I am currently keeping the lincoln in my house and hauling it outside everytime I want to weld, I would rather just keep it out in the carport, but I would like to put i...
