3m cubitron. 36grit for metal/ millscale.
80+ grit for any pretty cnrs. Main out lay is for backing pad 30 bucks.
I dont use flap discs anymore cause cubitrons are like 3 bucks a disc and flappies are 10 give or take.
Important to note though if you mis use them they can grab a bit.

Oh if you can play with induction on the machine set it as high as you can, just a nicer day. If you cant on your machine dont stress it. Its a luxury, not essential

Re: How on earth do you Mig vertical up?
Hi Sal. As above you will need to focus on the sides more, you look like your very close. If you try to hold in sides a full second and then cross to the other side in one smooth quick movement and hold a second on the other side when you get there. The cross over should be quick, if you do it too q...

Re: How on earth do you Mig vertical up?
I usually have good volts maybe 18V for .9mm solid and wind the amps back a bit so it doesnt fill up and out. Verti ups are technique issues if your settings are well set. Alot of turkey necking is from not staying on the sides. Get your settings so that your first/peno run can dig in a bit with the...

Re: How hot does your tig torch get?
This is also dependant on brands. I have a 26fx parker "torchology" that melted last weekend after 2 hrs on a 200 amp acdc with a pedal so cant be sure actual amps and the backcap binded hard into torch and rubber behind insulator started melting off. I just changed the head out with a tig...

Re: Mig welding at 28-30 volts not spray
There is a little debate in various camps about deposition and how its deposited. For instance if I were welding a structure and needed 3/8 + fillet, no matter what I would go 3 run 2 layer to get there. Unless speccd otherwise. On earthmoving equip probably just go as big as you could in one pass. ...

Re: Stainless flux core, worm hole
Wormholing is porosity just kinda in a different catergory, You could give a dash more stickout, may help but I dont think it will fix it, try up a half a volt at a time till it gets under control. Are you using the right gas for staino. They take different mixes. If so press button to get flow thro...

Re: Stainless flux core, worm hole
The joy of flux core! 🤣 This is one that does your head in till you nut it out. Usually porosity is cause by not enough gas cover, however wormys are usually from too much. We have guys that run mig type gas flow for flux and keep getting this. I have found 14 lpm in workshop and 20 lpm for onsite/i...

Re: TIG welding galvanized plated steel
I feel like only a few of these possible scenarios are likely. The previous contractor did a sweet mig verti down or back and forth and let them think it was tigged. The previous contractor took the energy to soda blast the edges or similar or was just a wizard who liked ruining torches etc. Or what...

Try having a conversation with K-tig.
They might not have a solution in that price bracket but I would be confident that they would be easier to talk to about suitable processes than your industry appears to be. It may help.

Re: Precision Metal cutting
I tend to do bulk cutting on saw or bandsaw, but if I cant get access to a good bandsaw I just use a thin cut off on an angle grinder. Its not 'that' difficult and gets very close with practice. That being said I used to be a pipefitter on 6ft - 10ft diameter pipe, making all sorts of lat joints and...

I am not a scientist  and yet I get definitely understand flux ph would affect such a thing also moisture holding ability of uncleaned off slag may be an issue as well......but. Wire cup for sure works great. Just be sure to wear ppe, face shield etc and including ppe for any onlookers in shed etc. Pulling those wires out of shirts, arms etc go with the territory of wire cups.

Re: TIG Silicon Bronze - Black Oxidation
Its good to hear that your results are getting better. You shouldnt need a preheat just stay in spot till the parent metal is warm enough to melt silicon bronze and you shoud be fine. Youtube is not the most honest place to get info, I'd guess they dont show all thier mistakes and start camera after...

Re: TIG Silicon Bronze - Black Oxidation
It does look a little hot though. As Tweake mentioned its brazing so you dont ever want to melt parent metal at all. I usually run 53-57 amps dc neg. Its just just enough to melt filler and get it to flow. You will still need to clean metal before. Cj mentioned wire brushing and a gentle brush bring...

Re: 320A enough to 20mm plates together?
A watercooled torch hanging off a 320 amp welder is kinda cool. Is it a new unit cause there are other products offering more amps in that price point. For instance other than a 180 amp I use around the house and a 235 amp in the shed I have never used anything smaller than 350 ++ amps. I have cooke...

Re: Almost got the Primeweld Tig225X
Just isolate the battery. You should never weld a vehicle without isolating battery and using wheel chocks. You run the risk of chasing electrical gremlins forever otherwise. As Cj said close and clean earth clamp aswell. All welding equipment has the potential to damage circuitry and disconnecting ...

I have had a similar issue with a little inverter when I put it on negative dc but didnt flick the switch over to tig. The switch allows for lift arc. Otherwise its just in stick negative, which will make starts havoc. It may not be your issues but its a simple thing to overlook, I have a few tungst...

Hi Jeff, With your pedal, if set your amps on the machine and then put your foot only 3/4 of the way down it gives you the ability to add amps as/ when needed but also seems to help dropping amps off quickly when needed. If you are not already, try to set up your amps and pedal so that the amps you ...
