Re: Making 6010 run on inverter

 stack of dimes with a stick? Anyways sounds like you may need whip it a bit in the direction of the weld may help, you know lay some weld move forward a bit and smoothly whip it back on itself and so on. 6010s would not be choice for that. 7016s or 14s would do that nicely. If you can find som...

Re: Need Advice on First Setup

Morning, yeah research is always a good idea, titanium is a little ways off yet. Aluminium filler I use is always 4043, I dont use 5000 series much, nothing wrong with it, I just dont. Tungstens: I use red for dc and now ceriated for ac. I get a small amount of arc wander from ceriated. Mind you I a...

Tungsten suppliers

Just curious if anyone has any experience with MTS (midwest tungsten supplies) All three of my go tos dont stock 2 percent lanthanated, one suggested 1.5 percent but I have found them to be useful but not great. Amazon has MTS and patriot metals, MTS seem more legit as I cant find any non amazon inf...

Re: Need Advice on First Setup

On coupons, that seems ok.
Try metalshops in your area aswell if you want, especially aluminium stainless machine shops.
They may have free bits..........and great tips.
But those coupons seem ok and aluminium is a dangerous bugger to cut without the right gear.

Re: Need Advice on First Setup

Yeah defintley Get a big tank if you are practising. Those little tanks go in a day. The tig setup you have is fine to get started but I would look at a gas lens kit. I would only suggest weldmonger cause they are all that Ive tried from the states. And they are good to thier customers. They have st...

Re: Weld estimator program

Voestalpine have an app for android. In metric apparently. No app is going to be perfect though. Gas use you may have to work out with a pen though. For example 300cf tank at 15cfh 300 ÷ 15= 20hrs And you only use gas when arcing so whatever percentage of the hour that is. I dont use the apps any mo...

Work out what you can take photos of aswell. I only take photos of stuff I knock up around the house cause most of "work" is subject to intellectual property. But having a portfolio of your work speaks volumes when quoting at other companies. Spend time in you local welding supplies mainly...

https://welding.org.au/calculators/weld-consumable-calculator-butt-and-fillet-welds/ Something like this? Aws may have something similar, same with miller. Im going to assume you mean a weld deposition calculator? In order to order the right amount of consumables? Hobart has some good tools, miller as well. Whatever they say add 10% if ordering to cover real world conditions cause the programs only do perfect computer calcs. Fronius has some too but th...

Re: Wheel loader frame/chassis repair.

The holes are plug welds, I dont think you would need them on that we use them for repairs on things like cat 777, D10, D11, bridges or such. But only when engineer specs it. Otherwise restore as original, flawless finish and needle piened. The idea is that you dog and wedge plate down to a repaired...

Hey mate, thats a very patient model you have there, he wont need that, at least I dont think so. Its still gotta be fun, tig is good for not much fumes, stay away from galvanised stuff and some electroplated stuff. Dont spray stuff on metal you intend to weld etc Otherwise just have a ventilated sh...

Hi mate. The correct term for that steel is C channel or Parrellel Flange Channel PFC. For short, this is not a correction of you it just makes it easier to order if you need to. What type of machine is it? Brand. ISOLATE BATTERY. Otherwise you will be chasing electrical gremlins forever. Earth as c...

Possibly a dodgy potentiometer, shouldnt be hard to change out mark wires before taking off etc. Getting the right resistance would be the trick or maybe get a better one might give fine tuning a new meaning ;) Can't honestly say I have ever used one, or evena manual filler dabber for that matter, I...

Re: Houston,Texas ******Start Today

Yeah sorry, inductance is a setting on some mig machines that basically takes the sputter out of short arc. Most machines are set at factory anyway but other can be adjusted. Up for smoother etc. Its a feature thats helpful if you have it but not essential if you dont. Only 1 of mine have it. Does t...
