Re: Forum etiquette.

I visit another site (forums), where theres a number of members who, if they ever met in person, there'd be a homicide. Or two!
I've never run across anything even approaching them here.
The other site? Its funny! And fun.

Re: super flex cable

I had one of those garden hoses that 'shrinks/shrivels' up when you drain 'em, the internal actual rubber? hose inside got a hole in it. I removed the brass ends & removed the center hose. Cut it in half & each half was just long enough for the 12 or 15 ft (I have 2), (I forget which length ...

Re: Stainless Arc stop pit

I am somewhat new to welding, but very new to TIG . I have been practicing welding coped tube on pretty much any scrap I can find, but seem to have an issue with stainless when stopping the weld. There is always a little dimple, pit, whatever you want to call it when I stop. I am hoping someone may...

I too, (USAF 50 years ago!) worked on ejection seats. We had rules that were strictly observed. And actually, everyone followed the rules. No matter how simple the problem, two persons always went to AC, along with a checklist. ( the checklist ) One did the work, the other did inspection while the f...

Re: TIG Straightening?

From the pics, it doesn't appear that a little bow would be an issue. If it 'wobbles', shim the high wheels. FWIW, I would (actually did) bolt plates on the front H's "aiches!" using the screws holding the wheels on, then weld a piece of pipe/square tube across to them. You can put your fo...

Re: 6-Gauge Wire for Welder Extension Cord?

I got for free, (no, not stolen, legally!!) 150' in 2 pieces of 6-4 ex cord (4 = red black white green). Used 'kearny' nuts to splice, cut green short, 50A plug & outlet. Old Miller thunderbolt AC - Lincoln 180 dual mig - TA 185 tig. All worked most excellently at the end of 150'. Peace of mind ...

I dont know about now, but I built (didnt finish!) a 'Monerai' sailplane. It had a chrome-moly cage inside a fiberglass pod. At the time (1979-80) the FAA inspector would not allow 'EAA' amateur's to weld any other way than oxy/acet welding . The inspector was also a member of EAA. 'Experimental Air...
