Re: How to kill blackberry growth? Any farmers? Exponentia

Blackberry's are a challenge. I've tried many different solutions, and only one worked every time, and this is the perfect time to get rid of the vines forever. Save up empty plastic water bottles, I like the 16 oz Coke bottles. Mix up one third round up concentrate and two thirds water and fill eac...

Re: Howdy from Port Hadlock

The Ajax is due to reopen this summer. They got shut down due to issues with their septic system. Their neighbors The School of Wooden Boatbuilding have started a joint venture for a new septic on boat school property. We live a ten minute walk from there. Wooohoooo! Thanks for the info. My son liv...

Re: Howdy from Port Hadlock

Welcome to the forum: Port Hadlock is just down the road from Port Townsend, on the north end of Washington State. We used to drive over to the Ajax Cafe, great food there, but they were forced out of business by the county. Or so I was told. That area is a beautiful part of the state, but it sure h...

You welded the first one, had a coffee break plus a half a dozen doughnuts, and came back and welded the second one. Jitters.

Re: just venting.... newbie welders.

This is the generation where they are "All Winners". Everyone gets a trophy. No one keeps scores because it may make someone feel bad. Just showing up is good enough and harsh words or negative input if universally avoided. I blame it on our school systems for not getting kids ready for li...

Re: Dirty electrode after welding

I have (had) a bad habit of waving the tungsten around at the end of the weld. So post flow was being wasted. I learned to keep the tungsten stationary while the tungsten cooled. The post flow gas has to flow around the tungsten while it cools. Took me a while to figure this out, and maybe everyone ...

Re: TIG Welding Basics Part 1 Big Overview of TIG

Jody: Really enjoy the welding videos. You have a natural way of teaching complicated processes that is very easy to watch and understand. I've learned so many things from watching you weld, and from listening to your instructions. I does irritate me that you make it look SO easy. Jeez, nothing to i...

Re: Bit of vacuum-jacket work.

Really enjoy seeing these projects. You do a great job explaining the problem, and you're solution. Every time I see one of these trailers going down the freeway I think of your posts. I had no idea how expensive and complicated these trailers are in real life. Thank you for sharing and keep posting...

TIG Aluminum prep.

I've watched all of Jody's videos, and while I'm getting better at TIGing aluminum, I still have a long way to go. I've noticed in Jody's videos that I don't see signs of brushing the aluminum prior to TIGing. Some folks say to use a clean stainless steel brush before wiping down with acetone. Is th...

Re: For all our members, a "Thank You".

Otto: Thank You for your posts and expertise. I'm on this site two or three times a day, and I've learned a TON from the posts here. I don't post much as I'm still in learner mode. There's a much different feeling on this site than other welding forums, not as much testosterone as other sites, and I...

Re: Glove or not

Interesting topic. I'm new to tig welding too. The one time I really zapped myself was when I was tig welding without gloves. I touched the filler to the tungsten while my forearms were resting on the metal welding table. Lit me up pretty good. So, I concluded, perhaps incorrectly, that dry gloves p...
