Re: Tig welding on tubing and round parts

I always do some dry runs trying to find find how to best hold my wrist/torch to get the best torch angle I can as I move. A light touch on the torch is key and it won't be long before you are rolling the torch in your fingers to keep that torch angle. Lots of practice and a good plan on how you wil...

When the waveshape comes up after pressing the gas/dig button, press the amps button to toggle between EN and EP waveshape.

A few from the week. The first ones were tough. The main tubes were 0.6 mm (0.024") wall. A little nerve racking! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4406/35681227973_4b45e10dc7_c.jpg Stephen S by Mike Zanconato , on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4427/35681227823_8ce227f5d5_c.jpg Stephen S b...

Re: Can't decide which welder to get ? [210 DX vs 280 DX]

I like the headroom that the 280 offers on the top end for aluminum. The low end is great and you can really soften the starts if you need to for the thin stuff.

I don't know about the current dropping off, but the tungsten issue sounds like you possibly have the leads switched.

Re: My first titanium part

No, that's not exactly what I'm saying. We can't say for sure if it will fail in your particular application. I just think it's best to do everything as clean and by-the-book as possible when it comes to titanium. It gives you the best shot at making a weldment that will last. Edit: I would echo Osc...

Re: My first titanium part

My concern is that all of the contamination from heat tinting gets dissolved into puddle and surrounding HAZ. That's why it appears the tint "disappears" from the weld area. The contamination is going into the interstitial spaces of the crystal and the surface appears "clean". I ...

Re: Amateur Weld Porn

Are you on DC-? Sorry for the obvious question, but three things make me wonder. First is the balling of the tungsten. Second is the required 160 amps. And third is how there is a sootie looking deposit in a band away from the weld. It almost looks like there is some cleaning action and then some so...

Re: Dynasty 210 DX new user - Couple of questions

In my version of my user manual, sections 6-3 and 6-4 describe getting into the user setup menu and then describe the start parameter adjustments. Just know that the minimum amp setting in the start parameters controls the minimum amps overall, including your end amps.

Re: Dynasty 210 DX new user - Couple of questions

What tungsten size do you have programmed? That dictates minimum amps. If you pick the "Gen" program, you can choose all parameters, including minimum amps. If you have 3/32" as your setting, i believe the minimum amps for that program is 8 or 10 amps. That might be high enough to lea...

Re: Butt welding thin wall steel tubing

See if a friend or your local weld shop will clip off some 035 mig wire for you. It should take much. On Monday, I'll try to remember to mock up some tubing and see if i can offer some settings. The SW200, has pulse, yes?

No go. The melting point of silicon bronze is about 1800F and the melting point of aluminum is about 1100F.
