Re: Steering Knuckle Repair

It is possible to have a new part made from scratch too. Could you tell us what this is on, some of us might know of places to get parts.

Re: Tig welding Brass.

Would be faster to braze or solder them. Do sets of them flux them assemble them the go down the line brazing or soldering them. You can even coil brazing rod on to a round doll and cut rings off. Place ring in joint with several laid out instead of adding filler on each one. It will flow into the f...

Re: Jody's video for this week.

Well that would make sense however the dynaflux kit doesn't use UV light and it had same instructions for both. The only difference I found on the website for them is one is flammable and other isn't. They didn't list any other details on website which is while I enquired about it. Here is link to k...

Re: Jody's video for this week.

By the way, if anyone is interested in discussing dye-penetrant NDE, I've accumulated a lot of experience with visible dyes like Jody used, including in ASME code applications, and have more time to discuss it than he does. Steve S Steve I got a question for you then, is there really any noticeable...

Welcome, no such thing as a crappy practice weld. The whole purpose is to practice and learn which means each weld you learn a little more what to improve on.

Re: Pedal Control | Amp Input + Deep Dive Into HI and TC

Hey Sam and the Midget! Sam has it right on the clicks and the general design he describes sounds correct. I certainly won't say no to PiX since I'm curious as to what's inside myself but don't want to open it up since it's working just fine :) So yes they are mechanical detents inside I'd imagine ...

Re: Pedal Control | Amp Input + Deep Dive Into HI and TC

Ok for starters only read first half of your post, but have a questions cause by your description of your pedal I would THROW THAT PEDAL AWAY. So first things first, you said pedal has clicks. So does the pedal actually have a physical clicks that you can feel every few degrees of movement with a ju...

Re: what's the water for?

Cools torch down which allows smaller torches to handle a higher amperage then an air cooled torch of same size. For example a CK 20 water cooled and CK 9 air cooled are the same size but CK 20 is rated for 250 amps and CK 9 is rated for 125. Also water cooling keeps torch cooler to the touch, a CK ...

Re: Thorium

2% Lanthanated holds up a lot better on A.C. anyway and takes longer for it ball up even under a high positive balance. It works great for everything else too but I do use 2% Thoriated for a lot of things especially 4130. That's my choice, personally I believe the Thoriated scare is overrated. Unles...

Hey Midget! Are you hiding in my cabinets or something? :P You were spot on for a lot of those beads I ran I was resting my hand or as I'd move I'd get caught up on something. LOL. No, just the length of the runs and look of beads tells us almost everything we need to know. It's like reading a book.

Re: scotch briteing tungsten?

Welding aluminum foil is what I consider a cheap parlor trick. Anyone can do it. I do it at 200amps, lay 2 pieces across each other turn amps up run torch over it fast. You can do it with oxy, tig, map, and propane. One of my friends buddy's was yapping on facebook how great this one guy was the wor...
