Re: What do the 'Know it All' guys say to you?

Apparently there no such method as dragging a mig gun

Short circuit gets better peno then spray.

Oh and that I should have the tip recessed at least half inch.

Re: Table ideas?

The free spin bolt idea is flawed, sorry. Think about when u bolt it down or remove. 1/4 turn on each bolt One after the other type situation occurs Also, since your frame has no cnr bracing I would suggest height adj casters to level your table out on uneven ground. And all ground it un even lol. O...

Re: seeking input

I've used the aussie version of the thermal arc welder.
On 20deg day I've ran it for 7mins non stop on 28volts aprox and wire feed to suit.
Still not hit the cut out. This is on aussie 240volt 15amp
And it was one very hot weld!!

Re: DCEP differences between SMAW and GTAW?

U got it wrong there buddy.
Ep will always put more heat to the electrode then the work piece, and this is required on mig and stick (but not always) as it is required to melt the stick or wire.

Re: Total beginner!

400kpa for oxygen
And 100kpa for acetaline
Then just adj your flow at the torch to suit your cut.
Clean tips well!!! A dirty tip will pop and stop alot if dirty

Good info there jody, and makes me feel better bout the same welds I did, and on the aussie branded version of your welder. I was giving myself a lot of grief with the root crowning, but since yours looks the same im now a happy camper. And funny thing is I keep a note book of your settings with tha...
