Re: Hi

Hi Guys,
I am thinking of getting a Lincoln 170S welder for lightness and portability and also for general sma work.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the above mentioned.
Cheers

Thanks Mike .
I may get some of those Ferrocraft rods 7014.
I have used varying sorts of rods here in Australia Lincoln rods for Gal work brilliant.
I also got some from Boat owners warehouse some china brand and they worked nicely. Slag curled up behind me and needed minimum cleaning.

Steve Thanks for the advice mate, i value your input mate. A friend of mine who is an Engineer oversaw the job and he suggested the failsafe along with my input. He reckoned my welds would all have passed x ray. I take pride in what i do and like you mate, i will not be rushed by no bastard. I have...

Re: dIY welding rod oven

I made a simple one out of an Alloy box only to hold a limited number of rods and mine is run by a 40 watt light globe. I only turn it on when needed. I must make a better box and perhaps leave the light on all the time rather than when needed only. Another thing i made was with 10 mm poly pipe. Cu...

I made a wooden letter box in the form of a house. It survived all week then on a Saturday night it would receive the teenager treatment. I spent many a Sunday remaking the box, i even put screws through it so the mongrel would get a sore foot. It still got destroyed. I then made a steel letter box...

I suppose Steve in my case anyway "i don't want to see my job fail " i have enough critics already and they would pounce on something like that quicker than you could jump." I made wheelchair ramp for a mate and he gave me two lengths of 75 mm angle which i had to cut and then weld s...

As i said that rod went to rod heaven and i tried another the following morning and got a damn good bead. All happy now. 75 to 100 amps. I can run 3.25'...

For portability the Makita range do offer chop saws but again all for Wood. I think. :| Any ideas f...
