I'd buy these and cut them down. I own a pair of these for my zip miter band saw, inexpensive for what you get, super easy to adjust the height on these and heavy duty. My local industrial supply had them in stock no shipping.

Re: Cast Iron Porter Cable B9 6x54 Belt Sander
I had the same experience with the 1 x 42 Kalamazoo. I read all the user reviews, mostly ⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎. What a piece of junk! The machine tool dealer sent me an email this week asking how I liked the Kalamazoo, I replied I found the sander of poor quality, its gathering dust. I'm not surprised you had...

Tried my magnifying stand, worked but just too in the way. I picked up a 2.25 Radnor cheater lens this afternoon, my Miller Infinity helmet comes with an adapter to attach it, going to give it a try this evening.

Re: JD Squared - The Beast Tube Notcher
Upgraded the Beast Tube Notcher with a steel machine stand I found on craigslist for cheap. That's a 24x30 5/8 thick ground steel fixture plate. I put my 24 inch Starrett rule across it, its still flat. It had 50 plus years of grime, quite the chore sanding it down. http://www.coolidgeamps.com/pics/...

Re: how to make a shape or shapes
I would look into using a scroll saw, not sure if they make a blade for aluminum but you can cut insanely curved shapes. Since the scroll saw cuts on the down stroke against the table it would be a whole different experience than using a jig saw. I see used scroll saws on our local craigslist quite ...

Re: Jet JMD-18 Mill/Drill
A test indicator would be another method, I consider a test indicator (I like dial indicators vs digital for this) a must have instrument. In the example he asked about its not really an issue as this machine has 5 inches of quill feed. I recently spot drilled then worked my way up using 1/4, 5/16, ...

Re: Magnifying glass on thin low amp TIG?
After some quick research on cheater lenses they are the equivalent of the reading glasses I'm already wearing while welding. My vision is crisp and clear when welding that's not the issue, its how small the puddle and arc is even when in focus. I'll give my magnifying glass a try today and report b...

Magnifying glass on thin low amp TIG?
I have a floor mounted magnifying glass similar to this I use for soldering circuit boards. I have been practicing TIG welding some .035 wall 1 inch stainless tube, I think I have all the settings and methods sorted out, now I'm just having a difficult time seeing the puddle and joint its so small. ...

Re: Jet JMD-18 Mill/Drill
I never thought of that, however let's say you're going to drill a 3/4" hole, you sight in on the punch mark and drill a pilot hole, then have to raise the head to allow for the 3/4 drill, can you still sight on a 3/8" hole? I haven't used one of these borescopes, but others I have used, ...

Re: Jet JMD-18 Mill/Drill
Tip: The #1 gripe about a round column mill/drill like this Jet is losing position left/right if you have to raise or lower the head. Verses one of the many square dovetail column benchtop mills. With the centering scope you can mark your position, raise/lower the head and dial right back onto your ...

Here's a link to the centering scope on MSC, wait for a 25% off sale I got it for $371.88. Note, I have owned the cheaper China knock off, this one is way better and not that much more money. The China knock off has a MUCH smaller eyepiece and is smaller overall, kind of difficult to get your head s...

Jet JMD-18 Mill/Drill
Been looking for a used drill press locally and came up empty so I ordered this Jet JMD-18. Re: JD Squared - The Beast Tube Notcher
Well it spit and sputtered and refused to puddle until I ground that bright finish off, then same settings (copied from a Jody video) it settled down and puddled. Maybe it needs more amps with that finish? I have 15 minutes experience TIG welding aluminum so keep that in mind. I wimped out by the wa...

Re: JD Squared - The Beast Tube Notcher
At least now you have a sweet tubing notcher, just notch out another tube and keep practising those aluminum welds! lol What did you have to do for the height adjustment? Re: JD Squared - The Beast Tube Notcher
That red coating is part of the 'bright finish' process I'm guessing. Bright finish aluminum tubing does NOT weld by the way, had to grind it off aggressively.
