Re: Is my machine entering Globular transfer?

I'd wager that the machine is fine. The big bbs are probably junk that got spat out by the deoxidizers, and not the result of globular transfer. Globular transfer the bbs tend to dance on the surface for a bit before freezing to clean metal. Junky, nasty steel with paint and crud tends to make "...

Mig 3f uphill aluminum with spray? Butchered test.

Well I've gone and done it. Two weld tests for a job. Nothing fancy. Second test was rolled pipe in 2g or something with 6013 for some reason. They had 7018, I was expecting 7018, but for some reason the guy told me to run 6013. Rod looked like 3/32. Lord knows what the amps were. It was hot, rod si...

Aluminum question, MIG.

In a production setting, using mig either spray, pulsed or pulse on pulse, how fast can you go in terms of travel speed using mig? The joints are 1f butt joints 1/8 extruded aluminum. We have .45 wire, 100% argon with either miller 252s or lincolns mp350s. The millers can do straight spray and the l...

Re: Deltaweld 302 short circuit with .045 wire

Thank you for the chart. There don't seem to be many for .045 wire. That chart also lists 100% CO2. I'm stuck with 25%CO2 since we are on a manifold system. In any event, I did have a bit of a eureka moment today. I'm quite happy since I think I am very close to getting optimum settings. I'm running...

Deltaweld 302 short circuit with .045 wire

Hi guys, I got two miller deltawelds 302 at work. It does not seem to have inductance setting. I'm limited to .045 wire since that is what the company says we use. The engineer defaults are fine but pretty hot at 25-26 volts. I'm trying to find something that will do 1/8 plate or slightly thinner wi...

Re: WANTED: Older miller thunderbolt missing AC taps

I'm really glad i found that manual. I thought this machine was too ancient to even have an online manual. I thought wrong. The other issue i'm having that the heat wont decrease. The mounting stud/swivel that holds the threaded rod that adjusts the shunt is busted. The heat increases but to decreas...

WANTED: Older miller thunderbolt missing AC taps

Hi guys. I'm looking for parts for a miller thunderbolt. It's older model with the the crank on top. I'm specifically loooking for the two yellow connectors to tap the AC side. I'm missing them from the left two holes. I've opened up the machine, and the last owner appers to have canibalized them al...

Hello from Toronto, Ontario.

Hi guys and gals. Pretty new to welding. Never went to school for welding. Prior to getting into blue collar work I was a white collar paper pusher at a law firm. "Learned" some MIG at work, when I took a weld test and was accepted into welder training through the company. Mostly flat mild...
