Re: Help with Cigweld Tig

Does this power source have superimposed full time hi frequency? (Is it square wave capable?) Not a lot of info available about this machine.

Re: AWS Awards Jody

Congratulations Jody, well deserved recognition. From the other side of the world you have:
- made me aware of other welding techniques and equipment
- changed the way I weld (for the better)
- saved my pinkies from frying.

Thankyou from downunder.

Re: Tig on 6" carbon pipe sch 80

I was over there one time. Watching tv the ad for coors came on and they were saying they made it with the purest melt water from the rocky mountains high peaks and the best hops etc. Oh boy that sounds great so I went down the local bottlo and got some for the fridge. Waiting for it to get cold I w...

Re: Tig on 6" carbon pipe sch 80

@Braehill I agree with everything you say. I was just giving my 2cents worth to the OP who stated he wanted to get good fast - something must be sacrificed. Incidently, I learned on s-2 at tafe college. Our teachers told us (in cert class) we should be using s-4 or 6 but they were permitted to order...

Re: Hello new to this forum

Welcome to the forum!

The 210 would have to be an ideal auto shop power source as long as you don't want to go thicker than 1/4" in aluminium. But for auto work you probably wouldn't need to. Its got good reviews and of course its blue, and spool gun capable as well. Awesome!

Re: Tig on 6" carbon pipe sch 80

Hi glassshroom. I got two cents worth of tips for you. Firstly, coming from my part of the world, we only use 3/32" wire so everything I do is based on that and I can't comment on 1/8" wire because I've never even seen it. OK. Tip 1. Loose the ER70S-2 wire. Use S-4 or S-6. If you want to k...

Hi there, welcome to the forum. I can't help you with your choice because I'm a tig welder. You're obviously in a hurry and I know all about that. New members usually post in "Introductions" telling us a little about themselves first before requesting assistance. If you do this I am sure y...

I fully believe that dual shield has plenty of preservatives in it. Trouble is when I finally kick the bucket, I want people to see dissipation in my face and say "man that dood really lived!" 8-)

Agreed. Porosity is mostly a gas shielding problem. Crank up the argon! Also using a gas lense instead of an ordinary cup helps too.

Hi trxmstr, me again. Others may know I can be vocal at times regarding safety and ppe. You are new here, but that does not spare you from my vocalizing. Now in the pic of your new 175, right behind it is a gasoline tank and beside it is a pressure pak can of engine enamel. I hope these items are mo...

Re: Hello from Kansas City, MO

Welcome to the forum, there is a lot of good advice here - you're going to need it! You've made the first good step. Don't take this the wrong way, no offense intended, but you can't just decide to take up welding and go straight to critical weldments like transmission cross-members. Those welds hav...
