Dynasty software revisions/updates

Well, I bought a 280dx last November. I was on the Miller webpage the other day and noticed there is a newer software version you can download and put in the welder. Question is whether I should? My thinking is that it works perfect for me as is. I don't update my phones any more as I seem to have t...

Re: How to TIG this flex coupler to exhaust pipe?

It looks like the ring on the flex is to slip inside of an existing pipe. I have never used the stuff so take the comment as being worth nothing.

I store my motor home in Big Pine Key. I fear I am going to have to pop for a boat registration for it. Thank god its fully insured. Wood furnace repair

20170831_183002.jpg So, I'll try and post some pics of the cracks. This is a USSC 1300 hotblast. Pretty basic stove. Plate steel. Got some cracks. Planning on grinding out and drilling. Question I have is what process not to use. I really don't think this is a big deal. I am thinking just using mug...

Please talk about 'Inductance" and "run-in"

Note-I started a similar thread at WW. So, I have the little Lincoln 210 mp. It has an inductance and run-in settings. I have used this to machine to fix a lot of things on our plows and trucks. For the worry worts be sure that nothing I do will effect anyones safety...no trailer hitch balls or any ...

exnailpounder Please forgive the stupid question I am about to ask. Why, in the first place, would someone want to try to repair a merc manifold? They are ~$250 brand new and you dont need to worry about any internal cracks that you can not see? I can understand trying if it was your own time or you...

I like it so far. The hood is way to tight for a normal head. Maybe I just have a large head.

I believe that another interesting area of TIG welding aluminum would be a section on overhead and out-of-position welding. Maybe some tips or tricks you have gathered over the years when forced to lay on your back or side and fill a hole in a pontoon or what not.

Re: Weldtec i head ball joint VS CK Flex loc (water cooled)

So, can you order just the torch and handle for the flex lock and put on the hoses and cables you already own? I have been wanting to get either one of these torches but I can not figure out how to order without it coming with hoses that I already have that came on the Dynasty.

Welding helmet for tight spaces

So, I was under a pontoon boat yesterday. Not a lot of room. My helmet kept hitting on the underside of the boat while I was trying to fix a crack on the top of the 'toon. It got me thinking... Is there a mask that may take the lense out of a helmet? I could then wear a leather cap or bandana or som...

Sorry if this is a hijack, just dis regard in that case... What is the advantage of that huge cup? I guess it would be for SS or Titanium but would there be an Aluminum advantage? Would you end up using more gas than a traditional lens? If it were to allow more stick out and greater visibility that ...

Re: Lets talk china Tigs?

My take: I don't think I would buy any new machine with the idea that I would alter the guts to improve it. I might do something like that in the case of a really inexpensive used machine, but I work on high power electrical/electronics stuff for a living. When faced with decisions like this I ask ...

Hello Jody, Thanks for all the work you put into these....An idea for somthng that I have not noticed you talk about in a video yet would be starting, stopping and then restarting. For example, a joint with round tube where you have to stop and reposition. Some of these experts get their restarts to...

I noticed in one of your pics an aluminum flange for an NPT plug. Is there a brand of flange or bung that you prefer? I am looking to source some to have in stock for adding drains to pontoons.

I am also learning the skills for aluminum (just an old fart hobby welder here) and I have not perfected walking the cup upward in vertical but do find a slight sweeping motion on a inside fillet helps me, as well as guiding my tig finger on backside of piece like Jody does. Your welds look fine to...

Maybe I should not have jumped from .120 to. 063. I'll order some ~.080 and ~.100 alum sheet.

Listen guys, if I am gonna order aluminum I may as well order a marine pontoon grade. Would 5052 be a reasonable choice?

Could whomever mentioned that butt welds on thinner stuff are easier please expand on their thoughts.I am try .063 5052 sheet butt welds and having a he'll of a time getting a puddle without key holes or the toes not wetting in. Going to switch to 1/16" fillers and tungsten.
