Re: Mig like Tig look

Trying to get the mig to look like tig. This is one continuous motion, no start and stops. Pull to the right fairly quickly, then slow down a bit for the e loop and repeat. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks, John. that looks really good. I've been out of town working for a friend and just got bac...

TiG finger question

I was considering buying a tig finger from jody but I don't tig. I usually run wire. I can see it useful for Some out-of-position work. does anyone else use the tig finger for welding other processes? I want to purchase a tig rig this summer sometime. so I can tell the wife that's why I bought it..

these videos are worth a watch.
edit: I know you have to do restarts properly to avoid slag inclusion. I think all three videos go over restarts.

Re: What is it?

I would get two maybe 3 other pieces of test material and run a bead on each. that should give you a better idea what's going on. I don't think you specified if it was giving you this with just the one material you posted a pic of or all pieces. if you're wanting to know what's bubbling out of the m...

Re: Hi Everyone

Hi Everyone, I'm recently new to the INCREDIBLY FASCINATING world of welding. At age 38 I decided to pursue a new path in life and enrolled at a local Tech college in their welding program. Without a doubt this has been the best decision I have ever made (next to marrying my beautiful wife) and hav...

Re: What is it?

everything I've seen so far says high argon concentrations work best. the cfh rate is 40 to 50 also which is a higher flow. perhaps trying a higher concentrate of argon gas and check flowrate. other than that I'm still looking a bit. it's interesting because I've worked with guys who worked shipyard...

Re: What is it?

Probably just contaminates from the steel being dirty. can you explain what where or when this is happening. a lot of times people over think the problem and it's something really simple to fix. this may be the case here.

Re: "Upgraded" whip-tip-nozzle

I was recently looking for a slightly better gun for my 211 than the m100 that it came with. I researched several brands and I remember looking at this gun. i am glad I read this article. I ended up buying the weldmark by tweco original 150 with 10' whip. I am not sure if the gun is going to be what...

Re: Auto Darkening Helmet Problem

The sensitivity setting set too high? this was my first thought. do yourself a favor and get a miller hood. if you can't afford a digital elite or one of the higher end models the classic series is usually priced around 70.00 on ebay. well worth that price. I've had my miller for four years and I'v...

Re: Failed FCAW tests for lack of fusion

I remember always increasing wfs in 4G position. start in flat settings. . 3g was same or close to voltage but lower wfs.. 4G was same voltage as flat but more wfs. it worked well for me and was easy to jump from position to position in a production environment

Re: Do you make money at home?

I've been running my side business for almost four years now. When I decided to start the business, I went to our state university and took a few welding courses to have some paperwork to back me up. It started off slow, just doing word of mouth jobs for friends and I landed a couple small fab jobs...

something to be aware of when using that technique is LOF (lack of fusion ) watch MiG welding tricks and tips #4 for the best explanation. I actually only recently learned that the technique I recommended is probably the worst one. when the thickness of material is less like what youre using then th...

I haven't had a chance to order any of the recommended books. I eventually will.. I will admit to sitting down with my books from welding school. looking at the notes and things is neat. it's only been 4 years for me so mine are still in fair condition.

I just noticed that I need the adapter that is opposite of this one. the 10pin needs to ne male and the 4 a female.

I can't seem to find one online. if anyone could possibly share a link that would be great.
