Simple TIG positioner idea

So I make these 16 inch diameter rotating turn tables on a lazy susan ball bearing for motorcycles. Just wondering if I wanted to try using as a positioner would I find that I am more likely to arc across the balls in the bearing as it will be the path to the work table for the positive current? Hop...

I can tack with one close but that is it, in TIG you will notice arc rolls around and around and acts like wind is blowing across it.

Re: Job related weight lifting.

Well my employer here in Michigan required that mechanics in maintenance (my job) lift 80# three times from ground level to overhead and on a shelf, and repeat, or your not hired. Now at 53 I had lumbar disc removal and fused pins and screws to strengthen. My 11 months of physical therapy and work h...

I hadn't stick welded in years until lately and this was my second string with 7018 1/8 inch rod don't recall amps but I believe 125 I was satisfied with this run. I really need to practice vertical.

Re: Broken wire from transformer to positive lead.

I like the split bolt idea. I'll assume they can handle the amps well? I've never used them so I don't know what they're capable of. The split-bolt will handle tons of current. I'd suggest using a barrier cream like No-Ox-Ide A or some similar dielectric grease to prevent electrolysis between the d...

I use Miller digital elite which uses X mode detects magnetic field as you strike arc and works flawlessly, works fine using the four sensors as well. Glad you figured it out.

Or for those of us w/o a chop saw clamp a straight edge (scrap piece of steel flat stock) at 45 degrees, and follow edge with a right angle grinder.

I am thinking of replacing my dedicated wheel on my pedestal grinder for tungsten. I currently use a general purpose wheel and would like to go to a more tungsten friendly wheel, in hopes of getting a better finish on my tungsten. Been using aluminum oxide 5 inch w 1/2 inch arbor. I cannot spend hun...
