Re: Can you push aircooled torches?

A key word in that is a "good" torch. A lot of the off-brand torch manufacturers that push their stuff out of China seem to get quite cute these days with how they rate the torch relative to duty cycle. Air or water cooled, all CK torches are rated at 100% duty cycle. I didn't look at any...

Re: Metallurgy 101

I'm sure this discussion could be taken to another level by someone with a degree in metallurgy, from a brief search I'd say the term "mild steel" refers to carbon steel with 0.04 to 0.3% carbon.

Sounds like a nice hood and headgear, I have the e684 and like it except it doesn't accept a standard cheater lens. I do only TIG welding, maybe a follow up there with your impressions, 5 sensors should be good.

I believe CJ was referring to your comment that the GPPH has the larger holes for heavy duty tooling.

I also have a dynasty with a wireless footpedal since august of 2016, still have the original batteries, since the batteries are a very common size (AA) I always have new ones on hand, just as I have new batteries ready should one of my welding hoods go dark. Re: Got flashed tonight

I have a Dynasty with a wireless footpedal all purchased new in April 2016. The footpedal still has the original batteries in it and has NEVER missed. The batteries came with it, and according to the welder's stats, it's struck many many thousands of arcs. I forget the real total and I did look it ...

My experience with this is from using a Miller sycrowave 300 (and that era machines ~1990) is that the gap does need adjusted and sometimes cleaned. See THIS thread and in particular post #6

Re: Got flashed tonight

I've used bright lights to help see the weld area, but I don't want the lens to darken before I initiate the arc, that's where the x mode on miller hoods shine. I think other manufacturers have something similar

Fuel tank mod. Customer needed the top center cut out which housed a traditional fill port, and replaced with a plate and a 2" pipe nipple to serve as a hose-connect fill port. 10 gauge 6061. I do very little aluminum, and a lot of it was a bit awkward to position, so not the prettiest beads, ...

Re: Flexible Tungstens?

Sometimes there is a place that you need a bend to get to where you have to weld, I've done this some years ago, you can bend the tungsten using the arc and a pair of needle nose pliers. The tungsten your bending isn't in the torch, hold one end in a vise and initiate the arc where you want the bend...

Re: Miller Syncrowave 250 - I desperately need help!

As others have said it sounds like a gas issue but hard to tell over the net, what about the hose from your flowmeter to the machine?
Do a bubble test on the flowmeter for leaks, if inside the machine the gas line is a hose as opposed to stainless tubing then maybe it has degraded and needs replaced
