Re: Welding in your basement
If you have a furnace that uses gas and a water heater that uses gas in your basement I would be more concerned about the saw dust myself. You need to be aware of static electricity in dust collection systems, even rolling up and un rolling plastic sheeting in a dry basement may cause a static charg...

Re: Not bad for the price Evolution Rage 3 saw
As I think I stated I am a hobby fabricator. If you notice you can flip the bushing over on the spindle and use 5/8 arbor blades your not stuck with 1 inch. I find the cuts very accurate and although the lazer light turns out to be useless the saw serves me well. I am sure there are much better saws...

They do make a 14 inch saw. This is a compound miter sliding saw so is more than adequate for me.

Re: Not bad for the price Evolution Rage 3 saw
That's good stuff. Thanks for the info. I have an EVOSAW230 9" circular saw that has been a good fit for my purposes. It has cut a boatload of stacked steel siding, angle iron and pipe and recently was used to make some cuts in 18-1/2" wide 1/2" mild steel plate. If Evolution ever ge...

Where do you guys recommend I get a leather extension for my Miller helmet, I have a very nice auto darkening helmet and really rather not drill it up a lot but a bit concerned during aluminum welding I may get a neck burn.

Re: All types of Welding Safety - Question
I can attest to the Rage saw being a beast to respect, I had a chunk of saw chaff get down my backside of the neck and oh was that hot. As for welding if it helps I have been TIG welding since the 70's, in food processing, in my shop and on farms. Many friends who are in their 60's as well and no il...

Not bad for the price Evolution Rage 3 saw
My new steel rage saw by Evolution.jpg I was in need of a saw to cut some steel to thick for my usual hand held cutoff wheel method. This saw has a carbide tipped universal steel blade care must be taken or it will dull it quickly. I did a few cuts by plunging like anyone would with an abrasive dis...

joint fit up on aluminum
I am curious on a outside aluminum joint weld how do you get best results with overlapping one surface entirely over the butt end of the other piece that is perpendicular? Or only half way on both thus welding into a valley on outside. I would think the latter would give better strength in the weld ...

I just bought myself a 10 inch compound miter chop saw for steel, plastic and wood off Amazon $200. Have yet to get it. I have been cutting all my materials with a 4 1/2 hand held grinder and it is getting old fast. Saw is an Evolution Tools Rage 3.

Poor man tig positioner
So I make these turn tables for rotating a motorcycle 360 degrees. I had one and was thinking how can I make into t positioner. So I placed it on the floor, welded a 1/2 inch pipe floor flange into the very center, spun a piece of black pipe into it down through the top of my welding table. Made a t...

Re: Motorcycle subframe crack repair
My KTM dirtbike subframe broke right at the front where the hole is for the tapered bolts both sides. I welded with 4043 and there was more time sent with stinger cleaning the material than normal, than I added filler after much time watching impurities surface. It has held for two seasons now. Some...

Re: 3/16" Butt Weld
I guess it depends I would bevel and root pass for the strength it provides. If your concerned about profile being above surface than bevel and do a root cap pass. Pretty thin for many passes. 125 amps max IMO with pedal you can always run 150 and modulate.

Stick practicing today
You would think after all the Youtube videos I have been watching I could really lay out some beads on a piece of flat (padding I believe is the term) like a pro, NOT. Seriously I am a tig welder and seldom stick. That has to change. Spent several hours burning rods today. Started with 6011 3/32 rod...

3/32 2% Lanthanated is my normal and most used I tried a 1/16 in once and is not suitable for the amperage's I run.

Have same and works great in all setups including stick have not attempted DCEN stick yet. But TIG on SS and Aluminum and ferrous metals is very nice unit. Enjoy the pulse and AC balance options.

Amp pedal and ARC welding
I have a Lincoln Squarewave 200 I always TIG with and want to get burning some rod in ARC and just wondered if my amperage control pedal can be used in the stick ARC arrangement. Manual really never mentions that. Just curious if an option.
