Re: Stick welding with Lincoln powermig 210 mp

I agree it's not because it's an inverter. My TA 186 and all the millers at work run 6010 just fine. But the the 210mp is geared more towards Mig. That's what I bought it for primarily. It did run the 6010 and 6011 it just wasn't very forgiving about arc length. ill have to second the inverter thin...

Re: here is one for you guys..

That would be fun to make but there would be no time to get anything else done. I saw a video of a guy who built his own Ferrari in his basement from parts he made at work, something like 15 years and then had to knock the basement wall out to get it outside. On youtube somewhere. I think if a pers...

Re: Stick welding with Lincoln powermig 210 mp

Anyone have any luck running 6011 on this machine? I see Jody doing it on the videos but mine will light up and catch fire and burn out after 5-7 seconds. It will run a 6013 well, and a 7018 pretty good. I'm not a great stick welder so any help is much appreciated. Thanks what rod DIA and amps are ...

Re: Looking for my first welder! Suggestions?

Yeah, It sounds like 180 amps would be about the right output for what you're talking about, and 110v units just don't do that. This one is 180 amps, dual-voltage, priced close to your target, has some nice features, like burn-back adjustment and a cast aluminum wire drive. It's from the Jasic/Razo...

Re: AHP160ST power Draw

I would guess those numbers are also pretty close for the Miller 150 STL that I use a lot. I know if I'm sticking 7018 3/32 at 80 amps I start tripping 20 amp breakers on 120v. Tig is a little better but around 110 amps it will trip a 20 amp breaker as well. Not right away but after a few minutes o...

Re: Looking for my first welder! Suggestions?

Thanks for chiming in! Does the Handler 130 and Power I both have all of the options including the 120v/240v capabilities AND DC output? i think both are 120V only machines but they both are DC.. as AC on wire feed leaves a verry shitty weld.. especially with flux core.. to get into dual voltage yo...

Re: Looking for my first welder! Suggestions?

Hey Gang, First time poster here. Just really for some advice on a good model through a reputable brand of welder. Based off of my research I'm looking for these options. -120v but 240v switchable -DC output -Dual MIG (Gas and Flux Core) -Good duty cycle (Not max as I'll only be doing shorter beads...

Re: Generators and Welders??

Ryanjames- used bobcat 225 machines can be had from $900-$1500. Mine was $1500 and only has a few hundred hours on it. Older model so has 8000 watts instead of 10000. Decent welding arc, generator output is good - only 600 lbs. what my end game is something lighter then what i got now at 500lbs i c...

Re: Generators and Welders??

Wow, a lot to answer. First of all, 120, 110 confusion. The utility provides 120 volts. Depending on load, this may drop to 110 volts at the end of the extension cord. Same with 220, 230 and 240 for single or split phase. Now for three phase, 208 volt IS different as it is two 120 volt legs 120° ou...

Re: Generators and Welders??

On a decent build 120 / 240 generator the ends of both winding sets will go to change over switch which connects them in series or parallel so in 120 volt setting you will still get full output - but I have seen some cheap crap that just tagged one side of the 120 to a socket. Yep, that would be my...

Re: The true cost of getting started in the welding trade

HARBOR FRIGHT, there I said it. I learned on a 90amp HF arc box. From there I moved to the Flux wire unit. It works well for building BBQs, trailers, gates, handrails, window bars and fabbing up other smaller item under 1/4 thick. I use their cheap 4.5" grinder and some good lincoln wire. For ...

Interesting topic. SavePhace sells hoods with custom paint by professional artists. I'd like to hear the safety man's take on these, since it's both "paint" and "OEM". Acrylic enamel, urethane, and epoxy paints that can be made to stick to a plastic hood have similar flash point...
