Re: Acrylic Paint for Welding Hood?

Figured I would share the newest look of my hood. HAd a friend paint it a couple of weeks ago. This probably wouldn't be allowed on any jobsite  DSC_8069.JPG DSC_8064.JPG Man, I shredded a pair of those gloves in under a week! I like 9mm for the price and availability of ammo, but .380 and .40 are also options I consider. Any pro's/cons of these? Then there are the wheel guns and .357 and 45 and that is why I am still deciding. But that Springfield looks nice as does the Sig. They make guns other than 1911's? Never notic...

Re: Pistol sight pusher

If a 1911 closes hard enough rechambering a round, or if you let the slide fly from wide open, it can 'trick' the firearm into firing by jarring hard enough to simulate a trigger pull if being held with the grip safety depressed. Typically, only after the main spring is worn out by firing a few thou...

As long as it has a + and - lead it will work. The walls might bleed and the stained glass might break, but it will turn on ;)

Pretty cool weekend project, I was asked by a friend who owns a shop to come do the plumbing on a 993 GT2 they are building for a guy. Pretty flattering to get that kind of task entrusted. The customer bought an exhaust for $10,000 which was supposed to be a drop-in and it's a disaster. I had to cu...

For shits and giggles, turn your flow down to 35cfh. Your transitioning from Welding an outside corner shape wise, as the argon is going around the pipe, as well as on either side of the welded joint, to welding in a valley of sorts with the short side. With a flow that high, I wouldn't be surprised...

The idea was for them to donate the material in order to train students specifically to repair cracks for them. That's about all they use welders for there, but it pays well. It's all thick titanium repair, with 300 amp tig torches. I don't think I'd have much problem with it, but I haven't had the...

Not bad BigD. We were going to to get some titanium donated to the school by a local business but we still don't have a 300 amp torch and we were concerned about ventilation. So: How many amps did you use? Did you feel sick afterwards breathing it in? Why would you need a 300a torch? Most people we...

You can fusion tack aluminum if your fit up is mint, but it's not the easiest thing in the world and takes some patience and torch manipulation to get it right. Also on the subject of pie cuts, Justin @thefabricator has a great video on doing the math to make your cuts so that they end up being a ra...
