For shits and giggles, turn your flow down to 35cfh. Your transitioning from Welding an outside corner shape wise, as the argon is going around the pipe, as well as on either side of the welded joint, to welding in a valley of sorts with the short side. With a flow that high, I wouldn't be surprised...
