Re: grinders

Mmm....grinders. My 2 cents: 1) Own several, one for cup brush, one for slice wheel, one flap disc, one grind wheel, etc. So much faster to just pick up another grinder than to always be changing wheels. 2) When you buy it, tear it apart and grease it. You'd be surprised how many have either very l...

Woo hoo! Passed the weld test for my R stamp! First project is on Friday. Chasing cracks on the tube sheet on an old steam boiler. I'll try to post some pics. Congrats Josh, I'm sure it's well deserved! Amen, and well done! I've passed my IX qual, and qualified some procedures. We're still waiting ...

Keep our friend, Jeff (exnailpounder) in your prayers. He's suffered a personal tragedy I'm not at liberty to discuss, and he can use all the positive vibes we can send his way.

I'm sure my wife will be okay with it. The young lady's married, too. We (she and I) still have to work out how to handle the kiss, as the director's not pressuring. We can chose to be blatant and obvious, a real kiss (which will fit the bawdy theme of the play better), or we can cup hands over our...

That play closed Sunday.

I'm really going to miss that. I've made friends with everyone and we can keep up.

Tonight I start rehearsal for Steve Martin's adaptation of "The Underpants", which is funny as hell. I get to kiss a pretty girl in it, too.

Re: POSSIBLE MOISTURE IN ARGON FEED LINE

I don't suspect the line. A bulk tank will accumulate moisture over time, especially if you're the second delivery and the driver doesn't properly blow out/dry the transfer hose. Get your supplier to come analyze your gas. You may need to add a substantial dessicant pack to your houseline after the ...

Re: Filler rod for welding thin gauge aluminium sheet

For your initial practice, 4043 or 4943 filler will be fine. Both will flow well and blend well with either alloy. I have never used an aluminum filler smaller than 1/16" for anything. Once you have experience, your alloy choice will depend more on the purpose. 5356 on your 5754 (which I'm not ...

The mustache is natural (I carved the center out of my goatee to get that 70's "porn star" look). Our makeup artist emphasizes it a bit for me, as I'm rather grey in that area.

Re: D.O.T. vs ISO/US stamped gas cylinders.

If it's not got an approved DOT stamp, it's illegal to transport it once it's refilled. It's a "one-time use" or a "fill on site" cylinder without the DOT stamp. The DOT has specific retest requirements and standards that must be met to transport them on public roadways. Same for...
