If this was me I'd be using a 3/32 sharpened like Oscar has shown with .045"
I would also recommend buying straight lengths in .045 & .030 for this type of work. Also I cut mine in half .

What the others posted, also try adding an extra dab of filler at the end and circle as you extinguish the arc to avoid the crater pits/cracks at the end of your weld.

Re: Material temperature
Is the're different temps for different processes? Guess I should have stated I'm using fcaw-g. Keep it under 350 deg, between passes, and your good. A blanket rule of 350 deg is not accurate nor recommended. There are so many variables to consider, material type and types welded together, filler m...

Inter pass temps vary based on a number of factors, what standard your working to, material, thickness, intended use, joint design etc. It will be called out in your wps.

I too have the Htp cooler. I only have two complaints. First is how loud it is, second is that while it works great with my 25' ck torch, if I hook up my weldcraft it immediately trips the alarm, which really sucks as I really like the feel of the weld craft. Using the weld craft on the miller cool...

Nice work. I am envisioning your second pic cut down to coffee table height, with some plexi glass panels riveted onto an angle iron door, or expanded metal doors and book you have a flat panel tv stand with dvd/blueray storage. Kind of crossing old design and new technology. Would be a good seller ...

This is my only complaint about the cooler as well. It is significantly louder than the miller equivalent. I will be following along as I've been considering this as well.

I've been contemplating using an old steel rim, some 4" pipe and a flat plate to mount. That way it could be rolled on the edge of the rim fairly easily. Knowing me though it will end up with casters that can be popped down with a lever and retract when in position, just cause I end up complica...

Ok so when welding at lower amps the arc is literally jumping around if that is the case it is possible the HF is on and trying to reestablish an arc it thinks is out. At higher amps this might not be noticeable. Precision TIG 225 does has a spark gap. I would check, clean it, and adjust it. The ma...
