Re: What torch is this?

Ahhh I've seen that guy. I think EWM sponsor his hair :D He has responded to Youtube comments in English on occasion. Could probably hit him up for some info. I hadn't seen a tig torch like that before. However if you wan't simple lift arc without the fancy bits like up and down slope, pre and post ...

Re: Filler rod holder cart(s)

Its my new years resolution to be more organized and stop throwing shit in boxes.

I started labeling contents and organizing into job types. It is pretty nice to walk in and find something in 10 seconds. I thought I was just being nerdy about it all till I saw some of those Festool guys.

Re: Beer Keg Casting Furnace

No but I'll be keen to see how you go. I was looking at it myself on youtube only a few weeks ago. Building and fabrication seems simple enough. I only ran into slight issues when trying to figure out where and what to buy re crucibles and refractory cement etc. Only because there are so many option...

Re: Filler rod holder cart(s)

LOL ... I didn't see lower bit of the bottom picture without scrolling. I WAS gonna say if you're truly organized you won't use a sharpy to write on the contents but buy a Dymo labeler or such and print labels  Looks great though. I made something similar but a single column of about 6 tubes. O...

Re: Braze rod

Being a plumber I use silver solder, usually 5% silver. Wets really nice and a bit more ductile and flows a bit better than 2%. Doesn't fill real well though unless you are really careful. Might be handy for filling when the idiot builder puts screw holes in my copper. Wonder if its exclusive to Har...

Re: Hi and request help with purchase decision ??

Theres a pause on my tig (different brand) but thats for gas pre flow. And on occasion I need to take the foot off the pedal, touch tungsten to work piece and try again. Grats on the new machine though and I think you're right regarding resale. Just keep a cover on it when not in use, blow the dust ...

Re: What torch is this?

I just had to go look that up. Hadn't noticed the tig/mma function. Its only lift tig though so I imagine you need a switch and gas valve. I just had a look and that foot long bit of cable you can unplug for polarity selection is internally connected to the mig torch. I checked with a meter. So you ...

Re: cutting 5" aluminum pipe [mast]

Thats all I'd do, use the cardboard. Maybe string if it was bigger. Main thing will be keeping the to pieces straight wild welding. Unless that insert pipe is a tight fit. If it is it doesn't matter if its not perfectly straight as you can fill the gap. I'd probably put a mild bevel on the two piece...

What torch is this?

I know the common tig torch numbers but can anyone tell me what this is or is it completely proprietary? I don't recognize this set up, the back cap is moulded in and hardware on the front I haven't seen before. I have a water cooled torch and spare air cooled both with lenses and spares but I'd hav...

That dude would surely get laid, many times I imagine.

Especially around a place called Darlinghurst here in Sydney.

Probably wouldn't be able to sit down for a week though......

Re: Hook in end of filler rod

WTF ... 4 pages on bending the end of the filler rod ??? Well I may as well add to it. I was told to do it at TAFE (trade school) for safety reasons, O/A mild steel filler rod. That was in 1991 and the steel caps/eye protection/gloves thing wasn't mandatory at the time. As for welding the little bit...

I had a go on a mig when i was about 7 or so. The boss there also showed me how to magnet...

Re: Is there a welding helmet that picks its own setting?

+1 for the Optrel They set the shade automatically from what I've read and give you a +/- adjustment to suit personal preference. Auto darkening helmet and auto darkening filter are one and the same thing. I don't think the shade setting is that important safety wise. I think any shade in the weldin...

Well call it what you like. You can watch the channel or for exactly the same info but in a more concise format just go to the manufacturers website. Granted you may get information about a manufactures new model slightly quicker on his youtube channel than on their website. Maybe they need to pay t...

Drop some catalogues of stuff you'd like in his mail. With a bit of luck he'll buy them and maybe you can pick them up for nothing in a couple years  If the JET was cheap maybe you might through it away in a fit of anger (is it of the cheap and cheerful variety?). But the shears? Then again may...

That right there is probably the reason for a lot of flak. I mean c'mon the video title alone. "The Top MIG/STICK Welder of 2017?!? Everlast's New, Simple, Rugged Power iMIG 230i" Its an ad plain and simple, I've seen enough reviews to know the difference between an ad and a unbiased revie...

I've got a Binzel on the other mig, but I can't afford to buy another torch right now. Spent too much money on welders as it is. Besides as it came its set up for aluminium with a teflon liner, so I'll leave it for now. Only issue with the torch is the neck seems a bit long.

Re: ChuckE2009 , what happened to this channel???

I don't take much notice of the comments most of the time. The comments usually resemble the back of public toilet doors. Funnily enough I think I've discovered a reduction in public toilet graffiti that is inversley proportional to social media usage, especially Twitter :o A lot of stuff is already...
