We may need a support group for tig welders.
We are having lockdowns in Oz at the moment and Id already stocked up on filler and gas with hopes of riding out the psuedo apocalypse on blue glow. But found an issue with my remote torch control not setting amps and holding them properly. My relationship status with aluminium is now 'complicated' ...

If it’s not going to damage any gear it’s worth an experiment. It would be worth it to find out what happens.
Controlled experiments, unlike the day I learnt that freshly re sharpened lanthanated looks just like 309 stub when you too busy to carefully check

Nice work, that come up looking nice even and straight. Did the concreatures give you a good pad work with or did you have to ad subtract bits to get it to sit flat?

Storing tig fillers
Hi guys, just a quick question. I have got a snatch pack of various tig parts to get myself out of trouble on-site. I don’t do a lot of tig on site so I carry about 5 x 309Lsi, 5x 316L, 5x 308L and 5x silicon bronze. And just cut up mig wire for mild Steel as needed. Like I said I don’t do more than...

I should add that miller is not a viable option in this category, in this area. Availability/cost issues.

Lincoln powercraft 200m thoughts.
This is a mig/ acdc tig and stick welder in our area at a good price. According to specs it will do what it needs to do, but. My personal experience hasnt been great with lincoln's. Have used so many lincolns and find the control panels dont like getting knocked around too much. Other than a flextec...

Re: Got my welding certs and can't find a job
Probably a stupid question, but for those of us outside the US, What are certs and how can you get certs without experience. We got "certs" but you wanna be damn good to have a crack at doing one cause if its not perfect then you just donated 2000 dollars to the tech college. minimum coupl...

Re: Cost of operating a welder
Hi Thomas, It would be a great thing to get an apprenticeship if you can. Some one else pays for the overheads, you get constantly challenged by new things and get paid. Triple sweet. Teaching yourself is a great idea too but if you have an option, I wouldn't. Your education in welding would be limi...

Or,......... I just checked out a couple of online offering over your way and I dont recognise most of those brands.
