Re: Getting ready to buy a new tig machine

$$$----- 2 Everlast = 1 Dynasty Highways are full of cars. Some drive high end cars, others drive low end. And there are a lot in between. Is it bad to buy a cheap car? Is it wrong to buy a Mercedes? I would go Dynasty anytime. I have the 200DX. It has never given me any problems. Great machine! BT...

Re: Whats the deal over at Welding Web?

Update: I just tried to log in, it doesn't work. Same for me. The forgot password feature doesn't work either so I can't try that way to get in. I let Zap know, so did DynaSteve. Using "Forgot password" and trying to log in burned up all my allowed attempted tries, there's always tomorrow.

Re: Hello... I already need advice!

I thank you all for the great feedback. You have already been very helpful to a newbie. Given all the info, I will chat with my friend and see what he is willing to do, otherwise I look into some ac/dc tig stick machines. If you decide to buy, don't know your budget, look into the AHP AlphaTig 200X...

Re: Hello... I already need advice!

My entry into TIG was all about aluminum. I couldn't buy a TIG machine that won't do AC. For that, you can go many directions: New Chinese- it'd kill me to have it useless in less than a year with no recourse New entry level Miller, or Lincoln- buying one was a waste of money for me. Used heavy dut...

Re: Hello... I already need advice!

Welcome to the forum! I can't help but think you'll find the DC only machine limiting, and you'll wish you had an AC machine at some point. "Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life.” If you think you might like to weld aluminum, would it be worth getting an...

Re: HF Start and Electronics Damage

I wouldn't worry about it. The only thing I would worry about is if you have pacemaker. I have an electronic spinal stimulator implanted in my back, was cautioned about it as far as EMF, RF, HF, etc......... well, I took the chance, didn't hurt it, or me. I keep my phone in my pocket. There's a lot ...

Re: Whats the deal over at Welding Web?

Here's hoping we don't attract too many from WW. They have theirs and we have ours, is what I've heard. Probably not true. There are a lot of people on this board and in this thread who frequent both sites. I think its just a matter of most have been more active on WW than here. Gotta get rid of th...

Re: Need opinion on purchase

If yyou have a way to cut it 'properly" ? Buy it and put the word out that you have some with the heavy equipment crowd.Nobody wants a whole sheet but will pay a premium for a piece cut to size, and perhaps drilled, for a dozer/backhoe/track machine repair. You can turn that couple hundred into...

Re: Grinding Tungsten

A while back someone posted a source for a six inch diamond grinding wheel as shown below. I tried to buy one, but it was an un-secure site. Since then, I found one on eBay for 45 bucks. It was a 100 grit, then I used a 240 grit plate diamond grinding wheel, that I all ready had, and mounted to the...

Re: Arc force? On Tig?!?

I don't think the function has any effect on decent brand name machines as while showing a couple of people with Millers how to set them up for tig I went through the menus & noticed arc force set fairly high & commented as I know they only run 7018 stick - they had know idea what it did or...

Can't offer too much here, other than if you could use a 3x4, you could get the Certiflat 3x4 ProTable for $329+shipping. A bit shy of your 60" though. The Certiflat fabBlocks are a lot more for that size. You might be able ot use 2 ProTables side by side. If you're going to spend $250 for a s...

Oversized would be an understatement! But, I thought about something like that, too good of a price to pass up. It's about a 1/3 the price of 1/2" plate.
