Re: Got a new helmet....

I finally got to try out the new Infinity helmet this morning and really like it so far. The head gear is a big improvement over the Lincoln in terms of not slipping or falling off. I do have to crank it down pretty tight but its more of an overall clamp on my head and comfortable vs the Lincoln whi...

Re: Got a new helmet....

The Infinity helmet Rick forced me to order arrived today. Here are some more pics. In comparison to my Lincoln the helmet plastic is thinner, more flexible. The Miller would be lighter except that lens brick packs a lot of weight, overall the Miller is heavier. Likes - Close to double the viewing a...

Re: Baldor Tungsten grinder project

The Lincoln Electric Welding School is using the 180 grit blue diamond wheel, they have over 5,000 grinds on it. So while not as smooth looking as the 320 grit yellow diamond wheel I'm sure its fine. The Tungsten ground on the stone wheel looks the smoothest yet its a courser grit. But it looks less...

Re: Baldor Tungsten grinder project

McMasterCarr http://www.mcmaster.com/#diamond-grinding-wheels/=yc4q41 Knowing what I know today I'd just buy the 320 grit diamond wheel for Tungsten and put a normal stone wheel on the other side of the grinder. I originally purchased the 180 grit diamond wheel thinking it would be even smoother tha...

Re: Baldor Tungsten grinder project

Nice work on the fixes. I'm sure your tungstens will come out excellent on it. Luckily I haven't had any issues with my Lowes Skil 6" bench grinder. :) I had purchased a better quality 100 grit grinding stone for the China grinder. I ruined it the first day by snapping off the tips of 3 or 4 T...

Baldor Tungsten grinder project

Tungsten grinding on cheap China bench grinders grrrrr I'm done with that its on now! Here are the first bits, the blue diamond wheel is 180 grit, the yellow diamond wheel is 320. Those are lathe chuck guards I'm hoping to use them instead of the dinky grinder eye shields. I have had bits of metal i...

Re: Got a new helmet....

It sounds great Rick, I just got my first TIG welder so this helmet should work great for that. Plus I could not get my $99 electronic helmet to stop slipping off no matter how tight I cranked it on so I'm hoping this one fits better.

the question is how long will they last... ...The youtube video I found describing use of these wheels for grinding tungsten noted that a welding school using the McMastercarr wheel has 5,000 grinds on it and its still going to me the real question is: who is keeping track of all those grinds??? :l...

They are half the price, the question is how long will they last. The grit seems to be applied directly to the wheel vs the steel mesh on the ones McMasterCarr sells. Now the welder... They should have wrapped some foam around that plug, no harm done on mine but it only traveled from CA to WA on a longer trip it might wear through the plastic and scratch the paint. http://www.coolidgeamps.com/pics/e7.jpg http://www.coolidgeamps.com/pics/e8.jpg http://www.coolidge...

Re: everlast

I just purchased a 255ext last month, 6/12/2015 so here's a brain dump. Let me back up. First I purchased the new multi process Lincoln 210 MP which is outselling the Miller equivalent 10 to 1 by the way. I was mostly interested in TIG welding but could use a MIG on occasion and thought well I'll ge...
