CIGWELD Gas and Gasless Mig

Hi there, I would just like some opinions on this brand of Mig welder since we have been getting lots of surplus imports from Australia and I am planning to buy a Cigweld 150 or 160. I usually do stick welding and would love to try my hands on this welder and learn how to do fluxcore welding first a...

Re: welding noob

Hey JP4,

Sorry to learn that a friend or room mate of yours stole your welder and the bottle of gas, not really a nice guy to be hanging with or having around.
Anyway, welcome and hop aboard the WT&T forum, nice to have you with us, have fun and enjoy the site !! ;) :)

Greetings All, I have always wanted to learn to weld and mentioned it to her in passing. Low and behold a couple days later a miller matic 211 w/mvp and some pieces of practice weld metal was sitting at the door when I came home from work. Looking forward to learning as much as I can. Anyhow, cheer...

Re: Old Arc Welding Rod

Hey Fran3 May I suggest you do burn some rods and test your old electrodes, see for yourself if they are still good and worth using, that's the only way to find out. If it ain't so anymore then consider it as junk, throw them all out but if it does still give fine beads and still good for welding, g...

HAHAHA, I would like to have and try both MILLER and ESAB welding out fits and accessories but as of now will just have to be content with some Italian or Chiwanese made welders. ;) :)

Some dream machines from Miller

A wish list for me and perhaps some dream machines besides a good Mig welder coming from Miller !! Just want to share this instructional video for this two dream weld machines as explained by a very competent welding engineer, Brent Williams. I have seen this video several times before and have enjo...

Re: Gas Welding

You have sections for Tig, Mig and Stick welding but no section for Gas welding? Yes, noticed this too, the index page has no section for Oxy-Acetylene Welding/Cutting and Plasma. When I checked on my earlier reply on a thread about oxy-ace circle cutting design, I learned that it was moved, but wh...

Just curious about Avatars !!

More than a month since I joined the forum, I noticed that I haven't seen any Avatar from any members posting replies. I am just curious here, is it a no no here in the forum that it has not been given some sort of attention for easy identification of the members' username ? Like I said, I am just c...

Re: Helmet & Vision - tips and tricks

I did like the video on the auto darkening welding helmets. I have just finished my second year schooling but am an older welder at 55. I do not see well anymore. I have a speedglass auto darkening helmet but I struggle to see the weld area. I also use progressive glasses. What I would like to see,...

Re: What process?

Well Mig is not that popular in small welding shops here in our country, for repairing car door panel, they use small rods of 6013 or oxy-acetylene. But hey Sgfpat, if you manage to do it with your buzz box perfectly, then that is cool and congrats !!! ;) :D

Will this help perhaps, since you are just practicing, apply a larger amount of spot or tack weld on the end or edge of the plate or joint you will be welding then when you reach the end of your pass, pause a little bit then move forward a little then let go. ;) Just continue practicing and in no ti...

Re: Whip and pause with 6013s?

Hey Chadwarden, What thickness of plate are you going to do the 1g pass. I don't think you will not have much problem applying the root pass on that using the ampere setting at 120 amp to 140 amp. You could probably use some tight neat circular motion moving slowly starting from left to right and wa...

Re: Welding thin metal

Please let me chime in on the discussion regarding Qwerty12's problem. I have spent enormous time practicing on thin sheet metals and have spent about 8kg of 6013 1/8 and 3/32 rods on 1.0 mm to 14 gauge sheets. Used my 300 amps AC welder that can go low as much as only 60 amps. It was really very di...

Nice work! I'm thinking the one on an angle is for the MIG gun, the vertical one is for the stinger, and the fork one is to hold the TIG torch? We need a shot of all three hanging in there! Yes you got it all right Ultrlow787 and thanks. So sorry about those three torches hanging in those holders, ...
