Re: Always Clean Steel After Brushing? How to Get Broader Ar

Actually, I was referring to this post by farm boy when I made my little joke: Imagine fillet welds as a mug and flat plate welds as a eating plate. Stick your hand over the plate and then the mug. Which has more heat radiating off that affects your hand. The mug because the heat is more concentrate...

Re: Always Clean Steel After Brushing? How to Get Broader Ar

Try this. Turn on the smallest and largest burners on your stove to high. When they are glowing hot, put your left hand on the small burner and hold it there for 5 seconds. Then do the same with the right hand on the large burner. Now you know how that steel feels when you are welding it. :P

Re: Let's see your TIG rod storage setup pics

I made these at a cost of about 2 to 3 dollars a piece. I cut my rods down to 18 inches.......i don't like welding with the long rods. I had a guy at work cut the holder out using a CBC machine......i then bent it up on the company brake. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f354/rahtreelimbs/Mobile%2...

Made these (out of wood  ) years ago before or right after I bought my SW250DX. I have since added more tubes to both ends of one of them (not shown) as I am a tig filler hoarder.

BTW, what are the real advantages of an inverter over a tranny machine besides power savings?
Just use 2% Lanthanated for most everything.

Frequency adjustments and wave pattern adjustments and portability.

All I know is it made a huge difference for the better. :D I think the one she made me could use a few mods as it is cumbersome to put a hoodie over the helmet and would be better attached with velcro. I have a few other cheapo hoods she can use before we mod the Miller Digital Elite. ;) I also have...

Re: Everything about aluminum

If you are not heating both plates at the same time, your torch angle is wrong or your arc is wandering. Millions of aluminum tig welds get done every day with 4043 so it's not the filler. A welding machine does what you tell it to do and it has no mind of its own so when there is a fuckup, one gue...
