Re: Lets talk china Tigs?

If the brand you are looking at is sold on Homedepot.com, I highly recommend buying it there and putting on a Home Depot card. You can get extended financing just by asking for it and you have ONE YEAR to return it for any reason. You can just change your mind and take it back.

No, the motor turns too fast on an abrasive saw.

Buying through Home Depot is the best way to get one, if you pay with a Home Depot card. You get one full year to return it for ANY reason.

Re: DIY foot pedal

I made a wooden foot pedal like Jody's, I use mine with an inverter on the torch side. The work lead "earth" side would work just as well. You won't hurt the power source either way,

Re: Watermelon knife repair

All kidding aside, I would silver solder it because I have the supplies on hand and it would only take a few minutes. I would not go buy silver solder just to repair this knife.

How much pressure with this be subject to? A good sil-phos braze joint or silver solder joint may be better than a less than perfect tig weld.

I've seen wire wheels that have thread on connectors on both sides of the wheel. This allows you to flip the wheel and expose the sharp edge of the wires. I can't seem to find them at the moment.

Re: TIG Torch problems

Someone connected the hoses wrong. Could have been them, could have been you. I don't envy the clean up job you have ahead of you. All traces of coolant need to be flushed out of the argon line and it needs to be bone dry.

Remove ALL rust before welding new metal. Trailers in general are dangerous. Trailers with patches "welded" to rust are very dangerous.
