Here's a sketch how you can add a second pot to limit the max current:

This is how my pedal is wired. You can place the pot wherever you want, in the pedal or on the front panel.

Looking at images of your welder and its pretty much the same as I have but different color. Take a look at this thread on page 2. http://forum.weldingtipsandtricks.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7412&start=10 If it looks like the same problem you have I might have an easy fix for you. If the machi...

zamanali wrote: Sometime the question comes in mind that how fast can argon flow to the weld area in just that fraction second
Thats why there is pre-flow. The gas will flow for a certain time (adjustable time on most machines) before the arc ignites to protect the tungsten.

Hi and welcome.

You can but it will be weak, ugly and you will have tungsten spatter burned in.

Yes, they are spot welded. If you zoom in you can see the darker spots.

Laser cutting would had been a lot easier but this was just a fun weekend project at a Metalmeet in Norway.

The technique I use is called hammer-forming, used on both the box and the Porsche clock. Good resources are Ron Covell, Peter Tommasini and David Gardiner among others. Ron has a movie dedicated to hammer forming: http://covell.biz/hammerforming-techniques/ The details on the lid are made different...

The Thermal Arc/Esab Fabricator 186 is a good choice too. About 1700 for a complete package includes pedal.

Re: Thin aluminum

No too bad, just need more time to maintain consistent speed.

When welding long flat surfaces I use a small piece of fire blanket that I fold to about 4 layers. Rest your palm at it and you won't get burned and it helps you slide along easier.

I have a Parweld Xti 200 AC/DC at home so anything you want to know I have personal experience from. That Parweld machine is s...

Honestly, it looks like you're welding DC.

Also, such small piece will heat saturate quickly so you need to back off the current a lot when it start melting.

Re: ALUMINIUM FOAMING

Even if it's not soaked in oil you will get bubbles in your weld. Cast aluminium has always a degree of porosity. Some of it will go thru your weld and some will be trapped inside your bead, that's the nature of it.

Re: Issue with GYS 207 AC/DC TIG welder

This has most likely nothing to do with the water cooler. The thermal sensors monitor temperature on the boards and/or transformer. Running a water cooled torch without water will damage the torch first and then power cable. Power down the machine and let it cool. If it persists, call your service c...

Re: Can I MIG weld Aluminum?

The short version is yes. But, you need a bottle of pure Argon Don't know anything about your machine but the hardest part is to get the wire to feed smoothly if the machine isn't built for aluminium. The lining in the hose must be in very good condition as well as the neck, to much friction and you...

Forgot to mention another trick
