I converted my '66 Corvair to transistor ignition about '77. I think the kit was around $60 or so. It sure did start better after the upgrade.

Swag Off Road Hulk tube roller with the appropriate die

Edit; After reading again I realize you're looking for a bender, not a roller.

What I want to know is which machine is solid, will last say 10 years, has the ability to keep up as I learn and not limit me in the medium term future. Open to suggestions. Welcome to the forum, I bought a Dynasty 210dx and had a problem that required service, fortunately under warranty, that was ...

Re: Tungsten Question

I'm just wondering what kind of gloves you'd wear . Granted with a bigger torch your hand will probably be further away from the arc, but with a watercooled 20 you can light up at 250 amps and see smoke flash off your gloves. Honestly I think any TIG work done using that large of tungsten wo...

Re: 90% isopropyl alcohol

The nice thing about isopropyl is while not as aggressive as acetone, it doesn't evaporate away nearly as fast, but still dries fast enough it doesn't become an inconvenience. I doubt I'm the only one to have SOAKED a paper towel in acetone only for it to start drying before I was done cleaning, or...

Re: 90% isopropyl alcohol

I always use 90% IPA, unless it's a critical weld or the oil/grease is heavy, even then I start with the IPA to get most of the contaminate off, and finish with acetone.

Re: Practice beads on 1/2 and 1/4 inch steel

Since the question was posted in the TIG forum we assume you are TIG welding, be aware as you runs beads and the plate warms this will effect the amps needed, just back off on the pedal a little and/or increase travel speed, but at some point it'll be too hot so either start a new plate or cool that...
