Re: Spray painting info needed
I mentioned a pressurized gun in the previous post they are not as common as gravity feed and siphon feed. Here is a pic of a pressurized tank gun I pulled off net. Notice the tube that runs from the air inlet to the paint cup. That allows cup to have air pressure coming in at top of cup and it push...

Re: Spray painting info needed
No matter what look for high volume low pressure gun type (HVLP) or low Volume low pressure gun (LVLP). The gravity feed sprays at lower pressure then the siphon feed. They also have less over spray and better atomization then siphon guns. Control of spray is better with a gravity spray. Clean up is...

Re: Best tig filler and where to buy it
I use Harris filler comes with a heat range number, can go online and print out info on that batch of filler. Stock ER70-S2 in .035 .045 1/16 and 3/32 I don't bother keeping 1/8 on hand. Stuff I weld on is thinner stuff. Most of time .120 to .125 wall is the thickest I go, with most of it being .095...

Re: Polaris RZR Round Two
I would not weld the 2 cases together, be a royal pain in butt to work on internals of transmission or motor, hell just getting it out of unit of welded together would be a pain. Not uncommon to need transmission work on these do to abuse. Lot of time they get swamped water gets into them. My questi...

Re: Bad Argon gas
Okay now that we got test results let's check couple of other things. 1. Your tungsten stick out, how much do you have. With a #5 standard you can not have much stickout I use CK worldwide recommendation that stick out be no more than 3 times diameter of tungsten. Also #5 is not gonna give you real ...

Re: Bad Argon gas
Okay first of all amps is way to low for 1/8 inch, your gonna be camping out on the piece heat soaking and wind up burning the stainless up. Heat input is important on stainless you got to get in puddle and get moving. Other thing is let's just see how gas coverage is on a single puddle instead of r...

Re: hot rolled vs cold rolled steel
Cold rolled is closer dimensionally then same size of hot rolled steel. Cold rolled also has been work hardened due to changes in grain structure from rolling cold. Unless it has been annealed after rolling like some cold rolled sheets are. Hot rolled bends easier and can do sharper bends. Cold roll...

Re: Cleaning alu residue from rod feeding glove
I use different gloves for each material, aluminium, steel, stainless, etc. Each glove is separated in box. Friend of mine stores each par in a plastic bag which I might do when I replace these. My aluminium glove does have impregnated aluminium similar to yours from time of use. Just the nature of ...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)
Sometimes I think I need to advertise locally due to low quality of work the welding shops put out in the area. A local dealer needed this part made due to modifications on a unit they sold it is used for sway bar linkage, center section needed to be 11 5/8. Local welding shop made one 11 1/8 and ot...

Here's a video that will help you etch your welds using everyday products readily available at hardware store, Wal-Mart or auto part store. Prolly should show a picture of weld along with your etch. That way everyone can give you better advice depending on what's going on. Etching video https://yout...

Can't tig with it get 100% argon will do everything you need to do with tig. Most common variant for gas mixture with modern tig is adding helium to it. There is a few odd special mixes for tig that are used for certain welding procedures when required like adding hydrogen to it, but 100% argon is w...

They cost more but are well worth the price look into Rolair compressors. Used to work for a Rolair dealer and did the repair and maintenance on these. I read on one our forums a post by I think Poland308 that the Thermal Arc 186 runs 6010 good. I personally haven't tried it, even then I wouldn't be able to give a knowledgeable opinion. I found it helpful to add more lighting on the part. The more I light the weld area better I can see everything. Makes it lot easier to see object details. I also use a yellow truesight lens by Jackson instead of the green lens. Allows me to see colors better which makes it easier to pick out detail...
