help for those with Small MIG/Flux core welder's

If someone could sticky this and maybe give it a better title.. So those of you with MIG welders with no actual Wire speed, voltage read outs IE your wire speed and voltage are depected with numbers or letters in the order of 1 2 3 4 ect or A B C act.. will want to both caculate your wire speed and ...

120V MIG welder question

so i have a Hobart 130 Mig welder that i use for odd stuff or just messing around.. and i am wondering would running smaller 024 wire vs 030 wire along with C02 vs C25 help it both penitrate better and also weld better as far as less problems with stubbing due to a lack of umph behind it..

Yeah Mr. Tig is a fun guy. Glad that he and the other guy got replaced by Bob. He's not ashamed to make a mistake and is fun to listen to. Also... I would have never guessed Jodys first name was William. And as for other videos... I feel like any other videos by someone with experience could be val...

Re: 6010 on inverter

My AHP 160ST will run 6010 to some degree how ever it takes a tight arc and the pentration is not as good. how ever my everlast 200ST will run 6010 very well. infact good enough to see them to cut steel. the main thing is that a inverter needs to be made to run E6010 and it also needs a good power s...

Re: Putting auto darkening glass in a passive helmet

I have a old Jackson passive lens in it and I am about ready to put a auto darkening piece of glass in it. Do I need the rest of the system or will auto darkening glass shade 10 for when MIG and TIG and 12 for ARC? I mean the main question I am asking is will it work without the electronic unit? I ...

Re: New MP unit from Everlast

I've been chatting up Oleg on Instagram, and in about four week's time Everlast will be releasing a new 200A multi-process unit that will do stick, MIG, and TIG, including HFAC. I've not seen the duty cycles yet, but it's a 180A stick unit, and a 200 MIG/TIG unit in one machine with about the same ...

unless its "stainless" you will only gain rust.. unless you use it fast.

Re: Whats in your shop?

A current observation. We aren't so attached to brands as most make it out to be. Everyone makes it seem like we can only buy one brand. It seems like most of us mix brands or have one of everything and like each and it depends more on process for preference. That's kind of neat to me that we don't...

I have a favorite bottle I use for helium, exclusively, for helium leak testing. It's original test date is March 1919, and the neck ring reads, "Army Air Service Balloon." It's currently out of date, and I intend to have it retested in March of 2019, and have the recertification date sta...

Re: two welders, one cart. Electrical problems?

My shop is kinda small, so in an effort to use my space more efficiently, I stretched my little welding cart vertically to accommodate both welders. One is a 240vac ac/dc inverter TIG, the other a 120vac MIG (transformer based I assume). As I was finally installing both machines on my newly improve...

Poleframer: The 125's are large and heavy enough. I have two of them on the back of my welding cart. Don't want to go to larger cylinders. Otto Nobedder: Are you saying that the CO2 cylinder is full (nearly) of liquid CO2? If that's the case I can understand why no more would fit. As for the Argon,...

I was just thinking and wondered if it was possible to stick weld at 700 amps on a dynasty 700 and if so what for and with what electrode. Even running 350-400 aps on a dynasty 350/400 seems excessive but I dont know maybe somebody stick welds some 5¨ weldments with 1/2" stick electrodes. prob...

Studying the wiring diagram in the manual here: https://www.millerwelds.com/files/owners-manuals/O459B_MIL.pdf Shows three brushes on slip rings, with one common to both weld and aux. power. That's where I'd check first. The exploded view is on page six of the "parts list", near the end o...

Re: Amps to temperature

id say the dumbed down answer to the question is its less of a question of actual tempature and more of a question of the volume of heat.. IE small camp fire vs house fire... both are burning at about the same temp how ever you can get close to the campfire then the house fire.. and i say this becau...

I would say it would depend on your budget.. if your on a unlimited budget i would say get a few difrent machines for each process so you have leave them set up for a given task.. but if your budget its more limited i would spend the bulk of your money on the process you know you will do the most.. ...

Generator and welder setup update

so as some of you might know i was messing around with a 3000W 120V generator a while ago with my inverter welder seeing just how what the limits were with it and i settle on about 115A being the max with the AHP160ST welder.. so i did upgrade my generator to a 5000W generator with 230V output and i...
