Re: Steve, missing in action?

Quite right on all counts. We lost one of my brothers late on Thursday the 14 shortly after discovering multiple inoperable cancers. I had performed one show that night, with three to go, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There was nothing I could do, so "the show must go on" was my therapy. O...

I want to thank everyone who agreed to participate in this!

That little "middle of nowhere" schoolhouse has been getting post cards from around the world.

Much love to my friends in the welding community.

Actually, stick welding with a remote, like a pedal, is quite common in Europe. I'd think it quite handy for 308/309.

Re: A school project in a tiny town. International help?

You people are amazing! Thank you for the responses. I can't wait to see how the class feels about all this. I've recently started working with kids locally, and it's a new and different experience for me. Something about experiencing a child's delight through their eyes makes me feel younger than m...

Re: I apologize...

I reiterate my apology... This new hobby has me very busy. I'm presently working on two children's productions. One is a Christmas special, the other is a mini adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. I'm learning a great deal, and to my great surprise I really love working with kids. Making many friends ...

I'm in in Clearwater, not international or exotic  True, but even Key West is still technically Florida. This started as a fifty-states thing, and went international through my direct interference. Any post card form anywhere will be a welcome bit of amazement. This is a tiny backwater school ...

Shame, I was just in Lisbon, Nice, Monaco, and Dublin with ample time in all for a post card. Off to Amsterdam in 2 weeks then Antigua. How soon do you need all these? This project will continue through the school year at least, so until around June 1. I haven't asked if it's ongoing, into followin...

A school project in a tiny town. International help?

A tiny K-8 school in the place I grew up has an interesting project. They are trying to get post cards from all 50 U.S. states sent to their school. I've been getting friends involved privately, but now that I know the address I have is for the school itself, and not someone's private mailbox, I'm e...

Perhaps you can direct me to the episode. I'm looking or one on smaw. One that talks about rods, when to use each one and why. What arc force does and hot start. Inverter vs transformer vs the rotary style found on gas powered units. Buzz boxes and the limitations on ac only machines. I know Jody h...

Re: Certs for oil gas pipe?

karmachanical posted a great test procedure. Oil and gas weld inspections will be held to API (American Petroleum Institute) standards, and they have specific certifications you can obtain. I'm sorry I don't know more about the standards myself, as I've only qualified to a few procedures rather than...

problem it's not potentiometer ...connection of potentiometer pins is problem ...on the pcb So, cold solder joint? A common flaw. A simple re-melt with a fully hot and properly tinned 35W soldering iron should have you up and going. Adding a tiny dab of some fine rosin-core solder is never a bad id...

Welcome on! Welding can be very addictive. I hope your local CC has a good course. There are too many schools these days that half-ass the trades because the focus today is sending kids after useless four-year degrees. Keep us updated! A good program deserves to be recognized, and a bad one deserves...

Re: Nonstructural MIG weld

Scotty, For your purpose, no. A concave weld on an outside corner should not be an issue as long as you see some penetration on the inside of the joint (or run a second bead, a fillet, inside the joint). Hood time will make you better at getting flat to slightly convex welds that won't need grinding...

I feel for those on the west side, who might not have power for days to weeks.
