How much of your tungsten is sticking out of the cup.

I have had trouble with miller machines when I didnt push the lead in far enough where it connects to the machine. If that doesnt seat correctly it can cause had trouble ay least in a miller. No experience with everlast.

I weld aluminum all day. My home machine is a squarewave 200. 3 year warranty comes out to 500 bucks a year for the machine and its Lincoln. I looked at off brands but couldnt pull the trigger.

It looks like you aren't beveling your plates. Try a bevel. It doesnt have to be the full thickness of the material. That joint is no different than a bead on a plate. The results will look a lot different with a bevel.

I blow off the table every time we start new ails and I dont bump weld like its shown on video. I do vary the heat but not off and on. I dont like how that method looks. Its plain plywood and we have high humidity. I work about 3 miles from the gulf of mexico and 1 mile from a bay. That is my unferstanding, too. I cant see an arc to a piece of metal not in the circuit and not grounded. These pieces are in a wood table.

I weld aluminum about 95 percent of the time. Anosized aluminum is about 75 percent of that. We use wooden tables to prevent scratches. Grounding is done inside the pipe with an insulator. We are all still learning. There was nothing wrong with the question. Sometimes you might have to add more details. As far as getting better at tig welding, learn to relax your torch hand. You need to be able to slide it and move it smoothly and tension kills that. Dont get too caught up in settings...

If the tungsten is recessed then that is the problem. There should be 1/8 to 3/16 stick out. This keeps the heat outside the cup and prevents long arcing.

Ok. No sweat. As far as the recessed tungsten, I think it is a cheat to keep from dipping the tungsten. I also think the op doesnt have much welding experience, at least in tig. Just from the sound of the question.

I ask because I work with guys who keep their tungsten recesssed in the cup and they burn up tons of cups, especially with gas lenses. They dall a 3/32 tungsten bigger than a 1/8 tungsten. B

I weld anodized every day. It takes about 180 amps to break through the anodizing. I use a east/west control. That is anodized aluminum and it does weld. No grinding needed. I like that notcher.
